After listening to Nick Saban say "I will not be the new head coach at Alabama", what happened?

Head Coaches are ego maniac psychopaths'. At least the competitive ones you want are. Any coach running from that challenge, isn't a coach we want.

This. If not for the off the field Trainwreck O would have at least a couple of years to turn it around and we'd be looking at the Florida win as a sign he was doing just that.

If any coach looks at lsu the last two years, and thinks Ed did enough to keep his job… then i do not want them coaching lsu.

If your a CEO type head coach, openly admitting u didnt interview the dc you hired and fired…. Here is your pink slip.

Any coach would say what they said. Could you imagine a coach in the middle of a season telling reporters “Hell yeah! I can’t wait to go there! And also, frick my current team.”?

That's exactly why he is being removed.

Kiffin didn't seem too thrilled with O being fired. They made remarks like "O is a championship coach only 2 years removed"

I put a lot of stock into comments from Lane Kiffin.

Remember the binder?

“Hey Lane.”
“Hey Ed. What’s up?”
“Hey buddy, I’m gonna get the lsu job. I know it. I think I can push them over the edge of i tell them you’ll be my OC. You in?”
Lane, with an incredulous look, “Um, sure Ed. If you become the lsu coach, I’ll come be your OC.”

Three months later…..
“Hey Lane, I got the job. When you coming down?”
“Wait, you were serious?”
“Well of course. You told me you’d come.”
“Well Ed, buddy, I didn’t think there was any shot you’d actually get the job…”

Or something like that.

Orgeron would have been given another year if not for the off field antics.

It would have played out just like the Les firing.

Nope. It was obvious at the UCLA game something was wrong. Regardless of how the off field stuff played out, he was going to be terminated. Decision was made then.

I agree, it definitely is part of the thought process but it wasn't the reason. Questions had to be asked.

- Is it likely that he recreated 2019. NO
- Has his CEO approach delivered outstanding results on a consistent basis. NO
- Are his antics likely to put LSU in a bad or worse light. YES
-Is he overpaid for what he delivers. YES

The coaches are a fraternity, they don’t Bad mouth each other when a Job is on the line. They might sarcastic with each other in a game or rivalry but not when it’s about their job status

O is being fired because not only is his team’s performance going to crap, but lsu is having to pay financially to remove and then replace his mistakes. It isn’t just about winning.

If the program looked stable it’s one thing. It looks like a circus right now, which is why he was fired.
