LSU will almost definitely be forced to hire a G5 guy willing to prove himself versus a big name hire who will want a guaranteed contract. LSU will have more money to spend on NIL in that case, and you'll also have a coach hungry to win and get a bigger contract. At this point, screw it and say Golesh or Sumrall (he's not ready, but there are far worse hires that can be made).

Key word......money.......LSU apparently does not have it. They are not going to pay 20 -22 million a year for two head coaches. Money baws are going to want something very tangible for it, and a shiny trophy ain't it

A G5 coach in demand is getting g a guaranteed contract as well. Sumrall, Golesh, and Morris fit that bill.

They want a financial return for that type of investment.....not just "results". When you are dumping 22 million a year to two people, one of which will be sitting on a beach somewhere, the fact that the new guy even wins a NC in the next 4 or 5 years does not cut it unless there will be significant financial gain for the booster.

Help me understand... What tangible ROI is a big booster expecting to get for putting up money? They don't get to get a dividend check for a big season. Help me out.

Like you said. Help me figure out why multi millionaires will willingly piss way 8 figures a year with nothing tangible or fungible to show for it other than the HC will take your calls without it going to VM.

Piss away 5 million. Maybe, but start pissing away 20 -25 million a year for 5 years, along with the money you are pledging for NIL? You're telling me they just want to see a shiny trophy?

I was always thinking these guys were getting hush-hush kick backs, like contracts through the school, etc. I mean Gordon got his kid a National Championship ring because of his donations. I am guessing Graves, etc., are looking to make some money here too.

I mean, I get guys like Grigsby or Rispone or even TL James back in the day.....construction contracts with LSU either in BR or other places. Can't see McKernan's angle. I definitely could see Carmouche's angle.... he's owned 2 governors and if he can own a coach and athletic department he's a king.

But I don't see Graves motivation.....or for that matter Shaw's from a long term financial commitment. Shaq wants to make money.....Graves wants to sell chicken and make money. Purchasing coaches does nothing for them overall in either department.....not saying they would not see the value in periodic donations, but being responsible for a coach just is not that profitable

So in other words the big LSU money guys aren’t willing to shell out the money to the football program to be a consistent title contender like the money guys for Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, A&M and many more?

I can understand it but it still sucks that many other teams big donors are willing to do what it takes to win championships and ours likes to pinch pennies.
