re: 100 % certain that Riley is Woodward's 1-A

OK then 99.99%, because 100% freaks you guys out, but it's Riley. It's Riley because he's got the resume and because he's not given any hint to anyone to take him off the list. And if Riley's on the list, he's certainly at the top. Riley is also the one candidate out there that would have a hard time telling LSU and Woodward no, he's very familiar with LSU and Louisiana's talent. Riley would also have a hard time saying yes. OU is special for Riley no doubt, but he can find very few elite defensive guys in Oklahoma which he needs to win a title, they are everywhere in Louisiana.
At this point eveyone has their theories and conspiracies. My latest is Kiffin solely based on the weirdness that is going on with Woodward and O in this whole transition thing. O is so comfortable about it and recruiting hard for LSU still it is almost that he knows and approves of who the successor is. There is only one guy that would fit that description and that is Kiffin. Kiffins comments were not a denial but a "I am only worried about my team right now..."
Also with Ed's buyout and Kiffin coming in they could keep him around in a non staff role and recruit/host for LSU. Also fits witht the public appearances role.
My first theory was Jimbo because when Ed was in the pressure cooker and looking like he would be fired any minute Jimbo started chiming in about being unhappy at aTm with the boosters and he has zero buyout.
I also have a eye on Riley as you said in the OP.
No sources, Just my $0.02 worth.

Yes, he helped orchestrate the best offense in history, but he's never been a head coach
Neither had Riley, Day, Smart or Swinney before getting their current gigs. Jimbo had never been a HC before getting the job at FSU and winning a NC.

That would be Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Ryan Day, and Joe Brady.
You had me until Joe Brady. Come on. Love the guy, but he was OC (assistant-OC?) for one year on a national championship team. That’s it. Now struggling a bit in the NFL. Franklin’s resume is light years better. And I’m not a Franklin guy.

Brady’s one year here is light years better.
The greatest college football team in the history of the sport. One year. Roll the dice man. Damn lol

Well I convinced myself that Mainieri had to go, and he’s gone, I convinced myself that O had to go, and he will be. But I’ve never did that towards Wade or Woodward, so they’re safe. :)

Lincoln Riley, Mario Cristobal , Jame Franklin, Luke Fickell, Lane Kiffin
I approve of this list.

Two words: Joe. Burrow.

Noting that if you take out Lane Kiffin's name and just look at his coaching resume, it's not attractive.
What? Literally the only knock on Kiffin is his past antics between Oakland/USC/Tennessee. His resume is actually dammed good. What is this guy smoking?

the only negative was playing in the B12
That's the only negative?
How about the fact that Louisiana currently has 15 recruits in the top 300 compared with 5 for Oklahoma?

Than Franklin's career? This is a joke. You are a joke.

Ehh, he never won anything. He can’t stay anywhere longer than a couple seasons. He has only gotten jobs in the past because his last name is Kiffin. He isn’t mature enough to lead an elite program. He isn’t great at recruiting.

The Goat with a 3-5 year retirement transition plan with Brady ...
What's another $20 Million/year when it is somebody else's money?

Franklin never had an offense or a season like Brady has. Just sayin.
Sample size is small, but stellar. I roll the dice.

Literally everything you say here applied to Brady, except being named Kiffin.
Post less.

All in on Riley.
If not Riley, give me Napier.
If Woodward picks O'Brien then he needs to be fired because he us a fraud.
