I've read well over half his works. I feel like his early stuff is the best. The latest stuff is just missing something...

I don't dislike any of King's books.....except The Dark Tower series. Slow, dull and shockingly uninteresting to me.

I agree. I love fantasy and I love king. I actually really enjoyed the first three dark tower books. After that holy shite it got boring and stale

My favorites are the ones where he doesn’t spin a fantastic yarn for 3/4’s of the book then cash it in with some bullshite sci-fi ending that doesn’t make much sense. I can’t think of one right now.

Just stared The Outsider. About 120 pages deep and am enjoying it. Anybody else read it?

Man the tommyknockers get so much hate but I actually enjoyed the hell out of that book. Sure the ending left something to be desired but the ride there was damn fun

Just finished the outsider. Really liked it. Way more than I expected. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve read/listened to king. The narrator on audio book was fantastic imo.

Actually started mr Mercedes which I believe is part of a trilogy and contained a character who was then in the outsider.

I loved Mr. Mercedes but I haven't read any of the others in that series yet

I don't think The Outsider is an official part to the series.

I know it's Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers and End Of Watch.

Outsider might share a character though. King likes to do that

Yeah it’s not official but one of the main protagonists in second half of outsider is from the trilogy I’m pretty sure and the villain is mentioned many times.

Yup I read it last week. It starts out awesome but then becomes kinda meh in the second half and the ending was a total let down.

They do share a critical character. You don’t need to read the Mercedes killer trilogy first but anyone who hasn’t read it is going to miss out on a lot of things in The Outsider.

The one and only answer to this question is

Short stories of King at his peak. Doesn't get any better.

Different Seasons is a distant second, with 3/4 stories made into major movies, and the 4th story, "The Breathing Method" was better written than the other 3.

The Stand is #1 for me.

Have a +1.

I was reading it while working at a satellite radio station (mainly I was just there in case something went wrong, which was very rarely). I would read it while at work and get so drawn into it that when I would leave at the end of the day I would get a little freaked at seeing so many other people out and about on the highway.
