The Warmth of Other Suns was great. Thanks for the recommendation!

On to Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology by Chris Miller.

I’m glad you liked it. I think it’s my number 1 book this year, it really hit me much harder than I thought it would.

I’m on to Dispatches from Pluto . It’s about this writer from NYC who moves to the MS delta and writes about it. It’s a really refreshing take and I’m enjoying it so far .

Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes by Tamim Ansary

I'm about halfway through. So far, I've found it very well written (not too dry) and very informative.

( his third reich trilogy is my favorite on the subject and I could not recommend more for anyone interested in that as Nazi germany is my favorite period of history and I’ve read and listened to more books on it than any other timeframe )

Have you read The Rise & Fall of the Third Riech by Shirer?

If so would you recommend also reading this trilogy?

I haven’t and it’s for a completely bitched out reason I’ll admit.

It’s SO daunting and massive it would’ve taken me lord knows how long to read it.

So I felt like Evans trilogy that is broken up into more digestible reads would be a better option.

I may get around to shirer one day and it may be the best of all .

edit: evans does reference shirers work throughout and hundreds of other references so i'm not sure you'll get much more out if it

I like Shirer's views because he was a journalist in in pre-war Germany and he has a lot of great insights into the build up of the Nazi party.

I also enjoyed his book, Berlin Diary. I enjoyed this more than Rise and Fall.

It's on my list.. Sitting on the shelf right now. Please give me your thoughts.

This is my current read, and honestly I do not recommend it. It seems to be very biased on Gender, Class and Race. Without giving much information on the USO or the hostess's itself. More of personal opinions and left winger thoughts on the USA at the time period.

But I did read "The Story of The USO" before this. - printed 1946; and it was way better on insight into the period.
