I thought the same thing when they banned kid’s movies like Song of the South. The most ridiculous knee jerk reaction to absolutely nothing but a beautiful story for kids.

Man... who knew these Dr Seuss books were so critically important to the functioning of society!!!
If you can’t see where this leads, you’re just a simpleton and a historical ignoramus. When have the book burners ever been the good guys in history?

A book - written in the language of the time, but later judged to be in poor taste
By a bunch of woke academics who would also ban Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Harper Lee, Chaucer, William Faulkner, Charles Dickens, HG Wells, and George Orwell if they had their way, and they are slowly but surely working on that.

But that doenst really change the fact that the publisher of dr. Suess can stop print. If their projections forecast that stopping print of these 6 books will lead to more sales of his brand long term, then take it out of print (obviously only thinking of the investment side).
Who was complaining about these books other than woke a-hole bully college professors? You’re assuming a lot and are giving these people way too much credit. Have you been watching the news?

It is still inherently a supply and demand issue, but the demand is being controlled by a collective group who is organized and excerpting public pressure. This isnt new, different groups have consistently done this throughout american history
Every word in this paragraph is a lie.

Weren't you one of the ones who was just sure that Trump would be declared President, not Biden?

So long as it’s available for me to read, I don’t give a frick what it’s called. I will get pissed off if they change some of the text in the book though. They better never change a word between the covers.

A lot of us were. Thought he’d gain 10 million voters from last time and he picked up around 12 million, and I thought that would be enough to get him across the finish line.

I'd say there's huge difference between Dr Seuss books and the authors you mentioned.

No, they just up and decided that they needed to cancel all on their own out of the blue here recently

He’s the best selling children’s author of all time. No, this is a line you draw in the sand, especially since these assholes are trying to get to your kids early and instead feed them bullshite like this. Dr Seuss is one of the most important writers of all time even if it isn’t exactly Shakespeare.

That was exactly my point. They are children's books, made specifically for children. If there is anything in them that could be considered even close to some something racist, it's probably best to stop publishing it or put it on hold until it can be fixed. It's easier for older people to understand that something may be a product of its time. A little more difficult to get that across to kids that are mainly looking at the drawings.
My understanding is that there's just a few pieces of artwork that is the issue. Should be easy enough to fix if they want to do it and start publishing again.

bullshite. Kids just think they’re whimsical and goofy characters, which they fricking are. There’s nothing racist in these books and things are just exaggerated. These books have never harmed a single child.
You know what will hurt a child: buying them a children’s book encouraging a boy to try on dresses and trying to convince them they are the opposite gender when they don’t remotely grasp what gender actually is. The most a 4 year old gets about gender differences is sticks, snails, and puppy dog tails. Those books I posted above are real and kids should not be taught about transgenderism when they are in their single digits.

What am I supposed to get across to a kid in these books? Am I supposed to be teaching them about racism? No, if and when I have kids I will teach them to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. End of discussion.

Pay attention to what’s going on in the world. They’re not bringing them back at least anytime soon.

Is it doing that, or is it just saying "if you want to wear a dress, wear a damn dress"? I haven't read the book, and I'm pretty sure you haven't either.

Never said that, but has it maybe reinforced a borderline racist stereotype? Some of the artwork was within spitting distance of WW2 era propaganda of Asian people. That may not have been the intention of the artist, but it's within the publisher's rights to pull it if they are no longer comfortable with it.

It’s trying to get kids confused with their own gender. Yes boys will sometimes do that and play with their sister’s Barbie, but they’re actively encouraging kids to question their gender.

They got bullied by two college professors and immediately gave in not wanted to be called racists by the press.

I am Jazz and Jacob's New Dress are 2 of the most commonly banned books in America, and even with all that added publicity, still aren't popular or widely read. Inclusive books existing doesn't mean they're being pushed.
You are on a real fearmongering tear lately, aren't you?

All I’m saying is those books are actually harmful, but should they be allowed to be sold: yes. I’m a free speech absolutist where if some guy wrote Mein Kampf for Kids, while I would speak out against it, I would defend to the death their right to publish it.
