Lightning by Dean Koontz is a fantastic time travel book.

Mark Lawrence's impossible times trilogy is a great series involving time travel.

The guns of the south by Harry turtledove is a very good alternate history novel involving some time travel aspects.

Timeline by Crichton as mentioned is a solid book as well.

Also, it's a graphic novel but All you need is kill is very good (story tom cruises edge of tomorrow is based on).

Hyperion quartet has a fair bit of time travel elements.

Terry Prachetts thief of time if you are interested in a time travel humor book.

"What If They Knew" by T.R. Hendrick.

2025 and time transportation has been perfected. 5 people are transported back to late 1700s and they make friends with 5 founding fathers, including Alexandra Hamilton and James Madison. Forward them to US in 2025 and let them see what the US has evolved into so that they might be able to structure the Constitution to prevent the socialization of The U S.

Interesting concept and quite thought provoking.

I really enjoyed the Chronos Series

This is kind of in the sci-fi realm, but the Origins series is a fun read as well.

Terry Pratchett- Night Watch

quote:

One moment, Sir Sam Vimes is in his old patrolman form, chasing a sweet-talking psychopath across the rooftops of Ankh-Morpork. The next, he's lying naked in the street, having been sent back thirty years courtesy of a group of time-manipulating monks who won't leave well enough alone. This Discworld is a darker place that Vimes remembers too well, three decades before his title, fortune, beloved wife, and impending first child. Worse still, the murderer he's pursuing has been transported back also. Worst of all, it's the eve of a fabled street rebellion that needlessly destroyed more than a few good (and not so good) men. Sam Vimes knows his duty, and by changing history he might just save some worthwhile necks—though it could cost him his own personal future. Plus there's a chance to steer a novice watchman straight and teach him a valuable thing or three about policing, an impressionable young copper named Sam Vimes.

I can't believe I freaking forgot about this one, it's my favorite Pratchett novel. Though I'm not sure I would recommend reading it without reading the first 2-3 guards novels for background information.

Just start at Guards! Guards! And read all the Watch books in order.

Then move on to Moist von Lipzwig. Then the Wizards.

Been on a big Pratchett kick lately.

This is usually my suggestion when people are new to Pratchett. That or reading small gods first, since it is a single one off book that is one of his best.

But you really can't go wrong with Pratchett.
