I am looking for a good horror book in general.
I like to read horror in fall and winter in the dark by a fire.
Any good foreign horror you’d recommend?
Also any good Halloween books

I’ve read a lot of Stephen King (and am familiar with the rest)
The Ring
The Halloween tree
The Snowman.
Dracula
Frankenstein
Haunting of hill house
Anne rice vampire first 7?
Jillian Flynn 4 of hers
Girl with dragon tattoo series

Any and all suggestions please.

Thank you all

House of Leaves. But, its one of those 'either you love it or hate it' types of books.

I will second The Exorcist. Scariest book I have ever read.

For psychological horror The Ruins is really good. The movie was terrible but the book is outstanding. Sure you've never heard that before. They say reading Helter Skelter at night can be pretty nerve-wracking.

A new horror fiction writer named Noelle West Ihli supposedly writes good novels. I've been told Room for Rent and After Dark are pretty good.

Intensity is my favorite by him so far, but I did just start reading his books this year

I just absolutely do not understand the appeal of DK. I've read probably five or six of his books really trying to get into him as an author but he just seems so hacky. Intensity probably the best one of the ones I've read. I read Odd Thomas and thought it was awful. Read the Frankenstein series too, very meh. Just don't don't get it.

Thank you both for this. I ran these suggestions by (imaginary)wife to give her some ideas also and she said it so scary she could not finish it.

Thank you for suggesting. As bad as I am about going to rabbits hole by some particular word, comment, or phrasing. I don’t think I’d ever finish this book

If you like some sci-fi horror, check out The Fold by Peter Clines

Won’t say much because almost any info will spoil it. But it ends in a wildly different place than where it starts.

It’s a pretty fun easy read.

I liked Watchers but it was a pretty flawed book. I don't read much horror but remember liking Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son). Now that Salem's Lot is being redone by Max, i would (re)read that book. Probably my favorite horror book. The Historian is fairly new take on the vampire genre that i really liked. Dark Matter has spawned a recent series on t.v. and I thought the book was pretty good although more sci-fi than horror.

Ghost Road Blues trilogy books are Halloween related, if I remember correctly and are very good.

Also, my all time favorite horror novel is Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. It's criminally underrated. It's a lot like It but better imo.
