Didn't go through all of them so it's probably listed, but I like the one about Ned being alive. It would make very little sense and I'm 100% sure it's not true, but the theory is that after escaping the kingsguard (which Meryn Trant lies about) Syrio and Varys help Ned escape the black cells while Syrio, a faceless man, becomes Ned and is executed in his place. It sounds awesome, but where's Ned this whole time while his family is being killed and still in danger, and what motive would Varys have? And why would Syrio sacrifice himself for Ned? Too "fantasy" to be true. The other "Ned is alive" one I like is that somewhere he's a direwolf.
No way an alive Ned sits by and watches his kids die but I like this theory and it could hold up. Robb and his wife "die" at the red wedding and it's plausible that an alive Ned would have no idea about the Red Wedding. It's also viable that he can't be at all place at the same time so you would have to see where his kids are at the time he is to beheaded. Varys is entrusted with Sansa, Arya was to be taken as the boy to the Wall to find Jon, and Robb and Mom are together. It leaves the two boys for Ned to protect after the fall of Winterfell. Plenty of holes but a fun crackpot.
I like the idea of Ned being saved by the Red God and we could see him and his wife zombie'ing it up with slit throats and all. Ned could be Cold Hands protecting the boys North of the Wall.

That would be really interesting but I don't see any way to link that together. The most likely is still got to be Benjin Stark = Cold Hands.
Ned still being alive would be a really interesting twist but I don't see Ned being clever enough to think of it and too prideful to allow someone else to talk him into it.

Agree 100%. I was just playing the what if game and how you would have to work it in.

Coldhands was a swore brother of the Knight's Watch, Ned wasn't.

Daario is not Euron. This is one crackpot theory I highly doubt is true, but I'd love for it to be. I despise Daario and think his character is pretty pointless and terrible, but if it's just an act covering a huge monster like Euron, that instantly redeems his character for me. Granted I don't see how it's possible that he goes from Merreen to the Iron Islands in the course of weeks, but it's still a very entertaining Crackpot theory that would be great if it were true.
Daario sure was talking Dany into using those dragons last night, and we know Euron/Victarion want them too.
Supposedly Euron uses magic to sail real fast so maybe that could happen. It's far fetched but I'd love it.

It was odd that the entire battle would be skipped and just this letter would show up. Kind of a blah ending to Stannis if it were entirely true.
I think Stannis wrote the letter. Ramsay would've sent some skin or some body parts with it if he wrote it.

I actually lost a lot of respect for Dany while reading the books. Any girl who's into guys with blue hair, blue fingernails, gold teeth and golden naked lady swords is probably more suited to the Chrome Throne of New Jersey than the Iron Throne of Westeros.

I just don't think Stannis would know everything that is contained within the letter and he wouldn't be able to write something that horrible. Aside from the fact that I think Stannis is alive and well, I think the contents of the letter are largely true.

I don't. The last time we saw Stannis, Theon had entered his camp with Jeyne. He could know all of that stuff. Jeyne may have brought this plan to Selyse from Stannis, or Selyse may have learned the info and acted on her own. The letter has her angry, fanatical idiot tone to it.
Plus, even if he was caught, Mance would have no reason to reveal his true identity to Ramsay. He might if he thought it would be the only way to save his life, but he doesn't seem to be the type to do that. Otherwise, the only people who know LoB is actually Mance are Jon, Selyse, Stannis and Melisandre.
Sorry I jumped up your arse last year, man. That was uncalled for.

yall talk about the spoiler Brienne leaked about her battle this season yet?

The only thing that goes against this is that, what's her name, the CotF, implied he'd been up there for a long time. Other than that, I agree, everything else points to Benjen.
Regardless, so many Starks have taken the black over the years, I'll wager Coldhands is definitely a Stark. Thus the natural affinity/connection with Bran.

Theon and Jeyne weren't mentally stable enough to help with that letter all that much, especially in a tone that the Bastard would use.
And if anything, the fanatical idiot tone matches Ramsay. He's nuts and the Boltons are fricked and they know it. He put forth a letter in order to provoke Jon to act.

Oh, I have no doubt Mance wouldn't talk, but what about the wilding women that came with him? I'd say Ramsay would first start by flaying them alive, and he'd get all the info he needed from them, and then hang Mance naked from a cage.

And all is forgiven from last year.

quote:Disagree. Ramsay's previous letters are far more eloquent, and his dialogue doesn't match that letter. Plus, even though he's been legitimized, I'm not sure he'd repeatedly use the word "bastard" like that, even to provoke someone.

Although you could make the case that Ramsay wanted to eliminate Jon as a competitor for Winterfell, I think Stannis has a stronger motivation. Stannis was the only one with the power to excuse Jon from the NW. Ramsay wouldn't need to lure him down, knowing he has to keep his vows.
Also, Stannis was getting cockblocked by Jon at every turn, and Jon butted heads with Selyse most of all. Plus, with Aemon dead, Jon is the only one at the Wall who can call into question the validity of Stannis' sword. Sam is a world away. Having people find out that it's not legit would be devastating. Someone may have overheard Aemon or Jon mentioning the book that describes the sword.
Like I said, I think Selyse's tone matches the letter more than Ramsay. I guess we'll find out one of these days.
Thanks man.

While I agree that it's not as elegant as his first letter (can't think of another he wrote), Ramsay is panicking and knows they're fricked. I honestly don't think we'll see Roose Bolton again, with Wyman Manderly and Lady Dustin butchering many of the Freys and Boltons, but I think Ramsay will escape, retreat to the Dreadfort, and then march on Castle Black. I just think Ramsay is a natural rival for Jon, and his character was easy to come up with since I think GRRM just thought of the exact antithesis to Jon and made him a character.
