Why do you think Bran needs saving from TEC? Bran is getting what he wants. If Benjen does show up to attempt a rescue Bran isn't going to have it. Also I hope Benjen isn't a prologue, because that means for certain he will die.

I agree with the entire R+L=J, but that quote was from Ned. He would never have called Viserys king for a few reasons, he would have been a prince. "The Kingsguard does not flee" to me in the most important quote in the context.

I 100% believe Benjen is going to reappear in TWoW. I'll eat crow if he doesn't.

Either a three eyed crow, Mormont's raven, or one of the Crows of the Night's Watch .

In all honesty, do you guys think that GRRM is going to release any more chapters this year, give us some kind of an update/release date, or actually release the book?

Hmmm... let me guess, which one?

I can't think about it.

Did any of you read that thread with the guy who just finished ADWD? He sounds really pissed.

JonCon is fricked. I think that he and Shireen are ticking time bombs in that regard. You have the bloody flux going on the East where Dany is, and with the dampness of Winter coming, I wouldn't be surprised if he spreads greyscale around Westeros before dying.

I would imagine that the Wildlings probably know more about greyscale than what the Southron folk and Northerners do. At that cold of temperatures, and with the dampness and snow, I would imagine that it's possible that it could reactivate. And I know some of the spoiled ASOIAF forum fans whine about how much of a bitch Val is to Jon about Shireen having greyscale, but I see it as a precautionary warning about the disease. Perhaps the Wildlings know that there's a chance that she could spread greyscale around at those temperatures.

Aside from the Others and cold weather/not having enough food, I believe a lot of Westeros is going to die from a full-fledged Greyscale plague (like the Black Plague) and possible if the Bloody Flux plague spreads from Essos to Westeros (which is possible from all the trade and ships). I could see Martin using both diseases/plagues to parallel the Black Plague and how two-thirds of Europe died from it in the Middle Ages.

Lyanna is 100% dead. Deaddeaddead. If she survived, I don't think Ned would've forced her to marry Robert against her will. Ned isn't Tywin. If I had to guess, Lyanna and Jon would've lived in exile in Essos, or perhaps Ned would've hid her and Jon in Greywater Watch with the Reeds.

He sounds about like me after I finished ADWD. Not pissed exactly, but fairly annoyed since I waited 11 years for AFFC and ADWD combined and got one combined book that barely moved the plot. They are very flawed books that work well as far as filling in details of the plot, but are pretty poor as books in the series in general. Both books could have really used some serious editing.

The only alternative theory I have for that scene is that the Kingsguard was there not to protect Lyanna and the Babe but to kill them... Ned would never kill his sister and has proven to not be a baby killer. This was vetted about a hundred pages ago though...

Personally, I'm not a fan of the "atleastoneoftywinskidsisaTarg" theory. But I think that Tyrion is truly Tywin's son like Genna said, in personality and blood. I see Tyrion becoming more and more like Tywin and not being the 'hero' of the series.

Tyrion being a Targ only makes sense if he's one of the heads of the dragon...

I agree that both books needed better editing, but I also see where he's pissed. At the same time, I would hope that later on that he'd reread the series (the Boiled Leather AFFC ADWD combo reread) and not give up on ASOIAF.

Both AFFC and ADWD are much better on reread. Flawed, yes, but lots of nice subtle things that i missed the first time around.

Eh the people that give up on things like this can do as they please. They're fair weather and show that they are bridge jumpers. If I was to rub shite on my face and tell everyone it was cool they would be the last ones to do it but then try to be hip about it like they never thought it was cool when the trend was over. It happens with all trends. It's like that guy that in that thread about a month or two ago that said he had watched all of season one and thought the show sucked and claimed he knew everything their is to know about GoT and ASoIaF. For the guy that wasn't happy with AFfC and ADwD that I told to reread with the boiled leather but said he wasn't going to reread them, if he still decides to continue the series when the other two come out he's going to forget a lot of stuff and will be using the wiki a lot. I don't even have a memory that strong.

1st part is correct, but if it isn't Lyanna/Jyanna or the septa with the C section

I thought that Septa Lemore was either Malora Hightower or Ashara Dayne.

Well, I think that the Three Eyed Crow is merely using Bran. He needs him. I think the Three Eyed Crow is the reason the Others are stirring once more, and once Bran figures it out, then the TEC isn't going to take too kindly to it. I think Hodor and Jojen will die in either this book or the next, and I expect Hodor to perhaps be the saddest death in all 7 novels.

Crazy theory:

Varys is a Faceless man. His "little birds" are his alters who gather info around Westeros.

I am rereading AFFC/ADWD and in Arya's chapters the Kindly Man constantly harps on how their order deals in secrets and it got me thinking.

It would also explain how Varys could hide in plain sight in KL for two books.

Am I crazy?
