It's okay to admit it's just because I'm here.

It's quite obvious that Mormont's raven is the former warg of some skin changer. He has a certain "knowledge" that would be explained by the "remnants" of a past skin changer still in there somewhere.

Is it Bloodraven? Perhaps. Perhaps it is another skin changer that was LC at some time. Perhpas Mormont was a skin changer (though unlikely).

Is it an odd coincidence that a raven is the "familiar" of the LC and that Coldhands travels with a large number (unkindness?) of ravens that he obviously communicates with telepathically (or wargs to)? There is some connection to all this, IMHO.

I agree with these things. I am just not convinced that it is Bloodraven. I think it may be Bran. I think that through the wierwood, Bran is able to warg into different times (like when his father was alive and praying in the Godswood). I guess my theory is really that the raven was a "nobody", but now that Jon Snow is LC, it is "somebody". If that makes sense. From reading Dunk & Egg, it seems like Bloodraven is a piece of shite, which is why I am finding it hard to believe that he will end up playing a redeeming role.

Oh and random fact for the night. The actor cast for Mance Rayder played Dumbledore's brother Aberforth in the last Harry Potter movie.

Even if I wanted it to be Bran, which I don't, it doesn't make any sense. Bran may have warged to the Raven after meeting Bloodraven, but for books and books he was either unable to control his warging, or was learning to slip into Summer with ease. Absent some connection to the Raven, I don't see it being Bran. I could see it as Benjen before Bran. But I'm not sure it's anyone. It could be Bloodravens left over consciousness or Bloodraven himself, I suppose. And Bloodraven wasn't really a piece of shite. He was just a hard arse who knew his strengths and weaknesses. But it would not shock me if he planned on using Bran as a replacement body of some sort to get out of from Beyond the Wall (kinda like Orochimaru wanted to use Sasuke... yes, a Naruto reference).

See I think he plans on using Bran as his successor to see through the plans Bloodraven had in place. I don't necessarily think those plans are good either, but I think even Bloodraven is conflicted and feels at least some loyalty to the nights watch which is why he has been attempting to help them along the way through mormonts raven.

Now I do admit I have no evidence to back up these claims these are just my feelings.

Started rereading the books. Something I read that I'm probably thinking too much on. Whenever they found the direwolves, it is mentioned how jons wolf had his eyes open while the rest were blind. Its probably fairly obvious what it means, but I'm drawing a blank. What was that supposed to be foreshadowing?

I didn't really take it as foreshadowing anything I just always took as a statement of how bastards grew up quicker than most kids.

quote:

. . . three heads has the dragon . . . . . . three fires must you light . . . one for life and one for death and one to love . . . . . . three mounts must you ride . . . one to bed and one to dread and one to love . . . . . . three treasons will you know . . . once for blood and once for gold and once for love . . .

three heads has the dragon . . . . . . Danny, John, Tyrion (this is the Crackpot theroy thread right?)

three fires must you light, one for life and one for death and one to love . . . . . . The fire for life could refer to the funeral pire where the dragons were birthed, same fire could also be the one for death and in a way love. Except the last one say TO love...(Hhhmmm)

three mounts must you ride, one to bed and one to dread and one to love . . . . . . Dread = Drogon, Love = Khal Drogo, one to bed = the Fig in Mereen?

three treasons will you know, once for blood and once for gold and once for love ......treason for blood = Maz dur, gold ?, love?

Obviously with 2 books remaining, some of these have not happened yet.

I think the first two are talking about the same people She must light three lovers funeral pyres.

Drogo is obviously number one. He was the one to love and the one for life.

Daario is the one to bed but we don't know how he corresponds to the fires yet.

Hizdahr would be the one to dread.

So you are thinking that not only can Bran look into different times through the Weirwood, but he can actually Warg and go into them?
If true it's possible that a lot of the people and things done in history could in fact be Brans doing????? I'm not as versed in these books as a lot of y'all but that seems strange
