I never "hated" Jaime
Oh I did. Right after he pushed Bran out the window I wanted him to die painfully.
Thankfully GRRM didn't take my advice on that particular story arch

I really don't buy Jon being anyone but the person stabbed at the wall. GRRM has done some slightly misleading narration before, but this would be over the top. Maybe the last Jon chapter had some subtle hints that it was another person's thoughts, but I haven't noticed.
Yea I was just kinda brainstorming there but I will definitely be paying closer attention to Jon chapters next time I pick up Dance.

really hope the actor can make the turn around for Jamie as good as it was in the books. Supposedly HBO and the producers love him.
He's gonna look funny with a shaved head

However I wonder if Jon could possibly be the Hooded Man? Thats something that deserves to be looked further into. Would also explain why the Jon who got stabbed refused to keep ghost with him.
Interesting theory. I'm rereading the series now, I can't wait to reread ADWD knowing what I know to pick up stuff like that.
I actually have loved Jaime from the outset. He is such a great character.

Forgive me, forgive me
When he pushed Bran out of the tower, my jaw hung longer than it did when Walt runs over the drug dealers and shoots one in "Half Measures" in Season 3

I have no idea how you guys remember all these briefly mentioned characters
Is it just because of multiple re-reads? Or do y'all just read the dedicated forums a lot?

Ser Kevan grew on me after Tywin died
Ser Kevan telling Cersei he would be the King's Hand IF she went scurrying back to Casterly Rock may have been my all time favorite moment in the books. Him letting her know that he knew about her and Jaime was just the icing on the cake.

I am just a very disciplined reader. I oftentimes reread chapters, and if I am cloudy on a brief character allusion, I will look him/her up on Tower of the Hand, then reread again. While I read, I'm constantly trying to find connections between characters and the reasoning behind motives, trying as hard as I can to fit the big puzzle together. That, and I've always had a knack for remembering names.
I'm not a big forum person except for TD. This is the only board I discuss/read about ASOIAF on.

Both for me. plus Wiki of ice and fire is always open while I'm doing re reads.

I always loved Kevan. He was a smart guy and was humble, despite his position. Probably from living in Tywin's shadow. He would've been a great leader.

A lot of what has been discussed in this thread seemingly comes from Tales of Egg & Dunk, which I have not yet read. I think that is where some of the backstory on the Blackfyres is coming from. Although it also seems like a few here frequesnt the forums on ASOIAF. I don't know if I want to do that yet.

Don't. I never will. You can get everything you need from here. We have a very solid core of ASOIAF specialists.

I lurk on westeros.org a good bit but I don't post.

I don't read the forums, but I use the wiki on Westeros. I like reading the histories. I only read the boards on here, and we see it's gone 15 pages

Imagine if y'all put this much work into real history, you'd all be professors

May I suggest checking out Tower of the Hand? It blows away WOIAF and all of the other sites. They have loads of content, discuss episodes AND the books, and they do group rereads (just started CoK) with a different member of the community leading the discussions 5 chapters at a time. I thought Wiki of Ice and Fire was great until I found this; it blows it away. You can get lost on it for hours. It is a bit harder to navigate, though. The community is absolutely marvelous. A lot of people do essays and in-depth analyses, and you really open up to a lot of different views. For people still in progress in the series, you can set a scale of how many books you've read/seasons watched and it will trim the articles so as not to spoil. It's amazing.

They're both great for different things. If I need to look up one specific character or faction I go to woiaf if I want to read articles and such I go to TOH

Jamie is soooooooo dead.
