According to the Washington Post's Jason La Canfora, an NFL executive who's worked with former Saints coach Sean Payton believes he "really wants" to coach Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers if they part ways with Brandon Staley...
quote:

"[Dean] Spanos doesn’t like to pay his coaches, but once your quarterback starts making $50 million a year, you’re really going to be cheap about your head coach?" Sean loves living in Southern California. You’ve got Herbert and some other blue chip players. That’s the fit," the executive said.

Big reason why I drafted Herbert in the 1st of my Dynasty league. Him and Sean together over the next decade sounds good to me!

I hope the Chargers go on a serious postseason run, and Sean Payton sees his next best option is something like Cleveland. frick him.

Kinda fricked up to float your name out there for a job your interested in thats not currently available. You could cost a man his job that the franchise might not have plans to get rid of just yet.

Leave when you don't have a good QB and only join a team when they have a good QB? What a pussy way to go about a coaching career

If you can't draft a quarterback, quit, and then try to get a job with another franchise that already has a franchise quarterback. Sean Payton is a quitter!
