Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will not ever hurt me. However, if you block the block the plate I will lower my shoulder or come in steel cleat high.

Nothing to defend here. Stephenson did his job-- Caught the ball, stood on the tracks, took the hit, didn't drop the ball and got the out. Both those players are getting paid to make the play. Stephenson won out. Any actual "pro" should know there's nothing more to see here.
