He was an arse...he was cocky...he bet on baseball(to win)...he was arrogant...but.......I've been listening(early years 1960s) and watching baseball(60s to 2024 ) and I have NEVER seen anyone play the game with the enthusiasm and hustle like he did! It's time to induct him!!!!!

I would hope my next to last day could be such a gathering of surviving good friends with everyone happy and celebratory.

He was among the greatest of all time. I used him as THE example to follow for the Little League Baseball teams I coached during that era.

I am a little disappointed of the "seeming" acrimony between Bench and Rose. They were my two of my three favorite players growing up (California Angels Nolan Ryan being the other). I wish they would’ve patched things up and recognized what they did for each other.
