The Advocate is reporting that LSU athletics recorded a $9.62 million deficit during the 2021 fiscal year due to covid pandemic issues and restrictions.

LSU produced a deficit of $9.62 million in the 2021 fiscal year, according to the school’s annual NCAA financial report. The athletic department had reported profits every year since at least 2004, but without football able to support other programs as much as before, the department took a financial hit.

The net loss was somewhat expected. The coronavirus pandemic forced LSU to reduce Tiger Stadium’s capacity to 25% throughout the 2020 season, which slashed ticket sales. After making an average of $36 million per year over the previous five seasons on football tickets, LSU reported $5.69 million, a drastic reduction in one of the department’s primary sources of revenue. Isn't more than 25% capacity season ticket holders? I thought most all the seats are sold save the visitor allotment.

He is gone. He can’t hurt you anymore. Was will be paid out by TAF and other booster money. That’s where buyout money comes from, not general athletic revenues.

I am surprised this is all it was. Between covid and crappy attendance even when it opened up due to a lackluster team. They are lucky it was not millions more.

No. No, I don't think anyone posting on this site has ever linked those two rhyming concepts. Nope. Never heard it around here at all.

How much in coach buyouts?

Lol at dumbasses who post this not knowing where the money comes from. You probably also believe that money is taken from poor minority professors and that a cloth mask will keep you from getting covid.

Facts don’t care about your feelings. And the facts are coach buyouts come from private booster funding in the TAF. Sorry you’re a dumbass bro. Maybe try doing some research next time.

Rona testing was like $150/pop 3x a week every single athlete. Few million wasted right there.

Oh, it is the concession stand nachos. Knew it. I hold out from eating all day at the tailgate to get those bad boys... Snickers and Coke also really suck there too. We need a new concession stand conglomerate so bad, I lose sleep over it every night.

Let's be honest, less money was being donated because of the direction of the football program, and look what happened: shite changed quickly.
