On Friday, the LSU Board of Supervisors deferred the motion to increase Les Miles' $100,000 postseason incentive to $200,000.

They will instead address the topic at a later time. Per NOLA.com:
quote:

The resolution calls for Miles to receive a maximum post-season incentive of $600,000, up from $500,000, should LSU win the national championship. The upgrade is due to the extra game required to win the national championship after the College Football Playoff was implemented two years ago.

Why would they defer?

It's the payout for winning the title game.

I wouldn't have a problem if it was a million dollar pot.

It is a vote of no confidence which shows that the fans aren't the only ones who think Miles is incompetent.

Strange logic...do they want him to win a national championship less now than they did before?...

You are missing the symbolism of the motion. They are basically saying, "why are we wasting Board meeting time to vote on unicorns?" This was NOT a vote on do we want to win a NC. This was a 'no confidence' vote on Les Miles, regardless if his name was specifically mentioned or not.
