Key has played with a variety of injuries this season and underwent surgery for a broken finger at the end of the season. If he ends up playing vs. the Irish in the Citrus Bowl it will likely be his last game as a Tiger as he is expected to the enter the NFL Draft after the game.

LSU and Notre Dame play Jan. 1 in Orlando, FL at noon CT on ABC.

There was never any doubt that Key would skip the bowl.

Has a great opportunity to show what he can do against some of the best O line talent (Notre Dame) in the country. Maybe he doesn't want his stock to drop even more. Who knows.

Told everyone back in the summer this was going to happen, and got ripped for it. I call it the "Fournette factor." You can thank O for that, even though I support O he started this missing bowls bs.

This is the current culture at LSU. Big talent, here for two years of work, take the third off or half-assed, and then off to the NFL to make money. Seems that is the top priority of a lot of players, and maybe a tool/promise Miles used to recruit them. Not healthy for a team sport. Too much "me" on this team... Take the 3* kids that will give their all for the chance to win a Chip for LSU.

Yea because a team of 3 stars is gonna be anywhere near a championship...

It's funny you mention Miles. This didn't become a thing until last year when O took over and told LF take it off. Most of Miles' players wanted to play their bowls bc they didn't have a weak HC.

Wow....you better believe the league offices are watching this one. Money talks and bullshite walks. Considering he doesn't qualify for senior exhibition games, this was his last audition. Talented? Hell yes! Heart? Not sure. Commitment? Not sure.

Different day in age for the sport of football. He will go first round and that second contract is what matters. He has an excuse to not play and he looks to be using it.

Seemed like Arden was really content on living off his two years at LSU. I have to agree that there are ways to protect that finger and show some heart for the Tigers. Just wanted more out him.

I understand he doesn't want to risk further injury in the bowl game, however he has not had a very productive year. I'm sure the scouts will be sniffing around to see if he is truly focused on the next level

Wow....what a completely unproductive year he has had... No problem with him sitting out his junior year in anticipation of going pro, if that is what he chooses...however, I do have a problem with him occupying a scholarship that thousands of others would have given anything to have. That said, I'll assume good intent and just suffice to say that he seems fairly injury prone...
