Tony Dungy has said it for years to incoming rookies by using the principle of 1. As an NFL player, one only needs on house, one car, one chain, one wife/girlfriend, etc... I get his buying a something nice for his mother as I have done the same. However, this can be a slippery slope for a young man to get caught up in which has been well documented time and time again.

I love Devin White, but I hope he doesn't fall into the trap of lavish spending. He could've bought mom a loaded Toyota, which is a higher-quality vehicle, at half the price. But he seems like a grounded guy and hopefully will manage his money well.

"A Toyota is higher quality than a Benz?".... I'm talking the overall quality of the vehicle. It's well known that Mercedes isn't at the top of any quality surveys. Land Rover and Jaguar and near the very bottom, and they're very expensive cars too, but they're junk. Now sure, Mercedes use nicer leather and wood in their interior and has more refined bells and whistles. So the interior cabin looks and feels more luxurious, but that's not how I'm define "quality."

Any butthole complaining about an athlete purchasing a nice vehicle for his mom with probably less than 1% of his signing bonus is being a hater or worse. Look back and I guarantee Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Shaq, Junior Bridgeman, The Microwave, and countless other uber successful post career athletes bought their mothers expensive cars and houses with money from their signing bonuses. Most of those guys are worth a half a billion dollars or more.

White has shown nothing that would indicate he will be irresponsible financially with his money. And certainly purchasing his mother a car is not an indication either, except for those who always seek to fine negative fodder against others. The rest of us are just happy for him and his mother. And do not see or predict some negative future for White because of his show of love and respect for his mother.

Are you stupid or something? No one is dogging the guy for buying his mom a car. They are dogging him for doing it before he has his money. Meaning that it's likely a loan, with a pretty steep rate. That's just foolish. Wait 2 months, then buy her one, and save all that money. I'm guessing you work at the 7-11 and have no idea how money works?

cra_cra no dumbass it’s not likely a loan!!! Agents front these athletes money for the specific purpose of choosing them as representation. So no there’s no interest paid back like he’s paying a bank. The small cut the agent receives out of his contract will more than make up that amount!

Are you saying you on buy items with money you have already received? You don't use credit based on future income?
