Typically to be called a cannon in the modern world, we expect a bore diameter to be a minimum of 20mm (~.78 or .79 caliber) and have the potential to use explosive ammunition. .50 BMG (12.7x99mm) was originally a machinegun round designed for a weapon designed by one of those rare armament geniuses that come along - John Browning's M1921 - the water cooled design from WWI that with slight modifications became the M2 - a weapon still in wide use in the West today, 87 years after its development.

Ironically, such a great weapon over a long service, explosive ordnance has been developed for .50 BMG chambered weapons, so it is arguable that a Barrett 50 with explosive ammo could qualify for consideration as a "light" cannon.
