Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill fired back at the SEC on Tuesday after the conference filed its latest response in the ongoing federal lawsuit involving LSU.

The SEC argued that its lawsuit should not be dismissed and called LSU's potential expulsion from the conference a "very real threat," despite the school's decision not to roster former professional football players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris.

Murrill responded with a statement criticizing SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed.

"The new response by SEC lawyers proves that the Commissioner was never acting in good faith," Murrill said. "LSU has broken no rules, and the case is moot. The lawsuit was garbage from the start and should be dismissed."

Murrill has maintained that the lawsuit is unnecessary because LSU has not violated conference rules. The SEC, however, argues that LSU's decision not to roster the players does not resolve the larger dispute over eligibility and conference membership.

This only ends when Sankey is gone. Hopefully LSU is backchanneling to get him out. Other schools should want him out for the terrible TV deal.

They won’t get him out he has better than 80% support from other schools in the conference. It’s about money and nothing more.

AG Murrill, Jeff L., LSU, CLK, Board, and anyone else impacted by this witch hunt needs to sue Sankey and the conf for slander, liable, and a frivolous federal lawsuit where they have no standing nor legal basis for their emotionally charged (and unenforceable) hypothetical rule-breaking by the greater LSU football program.
Bankrupt him and the conference, and re-organize a new SEC. One with a better TV deal and tie-ins to the BCS.
Athletes who have been, in essence, blackballed by Sankey and the SEC despite the La. Court order, need to file civil suit for a boatload of cash and end this.

Hell Next Sankey will be going after LSU baseball.

Still no talk about the Constitutional Issue?

I'm sure it is very hard for an Attorney General to touch that Tar-Baby with (likely) all the States that house the SEC being in love the "Citizens United" Supreme Court holding. It's what allows corporations to spend as much money as their hearts desire to assure election outcomes go their way.

I don’t get what people aren’t getting. When Bediako was granted an injunction the SEC appealed. The judge recused himself and another judge said you are not eligible. Then Bama said he is not eligible. The SEC stood down. As of this very moment those players for LSU are ELIGIBLE. LSU has decided not to play them but that means absolutely zero. They are still eligible. The SEC wants the judge AND Louisiana state university to say the players aren’t eligible and they won’t do that. Just not playing them is not good enough. Lots of players don’t play but are eligible. If the Baton Rouge judge says the injunction is overturned, it’s over and the players aren’t eligible. The way the SEC is seeing this is as long as the players are deemed eligible LSU is going against the SEC rules. Whether they play or not means nothing.

I am done with all of this legal crap. Time to focus on enjoying football instead of continuing to make attorneys rich.
