Brian Kelly and the LSU coaching staff landed a big-time commitment from four-star offensive tackle Zalance Heard on Thursday.

Heard, a native of Monroe, La., picked the Tigers over Florida, Florida State, Houston, and Nebraska.

The 6-5, 300-pound prospect from Neville High School is rated the No. 6 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 4 overall player from the state of Louisiana for the class of 2023, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Heard received his offer from LSU back in March. His former teammate is freshman offensive tackle Will Campbell who will start for the Tigers this season.

LSU now has 22 verbal commitments for the class of 2023 with the addition of Heard who is the 3rd offensive line commit in the class.

SI called Notre Dame offensive line u for a reason. CBK can flat out coach o line. This is not lost on these kids. Linemen of Heard’s caliber coming here will become the norm.

Huge pickup and he and Campbell can be the book ends for their entire time here. Empty Jones in the inside and Dellinger at center is solid. Kelly is building it the right way!
