Now that USC has officially hired interim coach Clay Helton as their permanent head coach, FootballScoop.com is reporting that Helton will most likely will make staff changes and could possibly target LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron to join the team.
quote:

USC: Sources tell FootballScoop that Clay Helton is planning to make a number of staff changes following the season. One source told FootballScoop that Helton has spoken with Ed Orgeron. O and Helton are good friends and have a deep respect for each other. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.
Orgeron was the defensive line coach at USC from 2010-2013 and was promoted to interim head coach when Lane Kiffin was fired during the 2013 season.

He was also an assistant coach at USC from 1998–2004.

Ugh, we need to keep Coach O.

Why would he go back there? They wouldn't remove his interim tag and make him head coach when he was there. O wants a head coach gig. Can't see him leaving for anything else..especially for a program that gave his buddy the promotion but wouldn't do it for him.

Why would he go back there? Have you seen the cicrus of an administration and athletic department we have right now? There is no sense of security within the program and the writing is on the wall.

they will make him a hefty offer that he will consider. And probably assistant head coach / DC.

Give him a raise here. He needs to stay. If anyone earned their money this year it's him. Amazing recruiter and did more for our dline than we've seen the past 3 years or so...

Coach O isn't going anywhere unless a school offers him a head coaching position.

Why in the hell would O go back there? Is Haden the same AD that wouldn't promote him to HC there?

I hope they don't offer him the defensive coordinator gig there because he'd take it IMO. I wish we would promote him to DC.
