Multiple sources are reporting that LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is opting out of the 2020 College Football season and will prepare for the NFL Draft.

Chase's father previously said that his son would be playing this upcoming season.

He joins defensive lineman Neil Farrell and defensive back Kary Vincent as the other Tigers to opt-out of the season.

Why now?

I would give the kid the benefit of the doubt. This whole season is going to be a complete cluster frick. No fans. Likelihood of random cancellation of games because some assistant to the assistant Waterboy test positive for the virus. No set schedule for games. Likelyhood of injury exponentially higher. The NFL scouts already know what he can do. There’s gonna be no political blowback for sitting out the season. I would take a bet that the vast majority of guys who have a great junior season would preferred not to play and simply train their last year to get ready for the NFL

Not to mention he has already won a national title and has achieved everything from a Team standpoint that is required at Lsu. This entire season for him is to make himself ready to play professional football. The circumstances in our country are such that playing college football This year will be a this year will be a terrible prep for the NFL for a player like him

$5 million insurance policy paid by LSU wasn't enough money. He decided to quit on his teammates instead.

Soaking up first team reps. Should have made that decision a while back. He really has nothing to gain in the college game. Good Luck Ja’Marr

When did we forget playing college football is actually fun and rewarding? He would gain that. Not nothing like you say.

He would have gotten out much sooner if this was the case. It's not like he hasn't had Brennan throwing to him in practice for quite some time now since Brennan has been around for some time.

Can’t do anything but hurt his stock at this point. Can’t blame him. Have to remember these kids #1 goals.

While this is a downer for the season, there are so many variables that would not benefit him. He has accomplished everything short of the Heisman Trophy. He was instrumental in bringing a title to LSU. Best of luck to a legendary Tiger!

They have been getting conflicting messages almost daily. 3 months ago, the powers that be told him things would be back to normal by football season. Then with a snap of the finger, the assholes in the Big10 cancel and everybody is pressuring the SEC to do the same. I would assume he wanted to play but not under these circumstances. It serves no benefit to him.

This was All about CEO insisting he is a Trump man. He had half the team walk out (and that is not Gump spy talk). All he had to do is shut up and garble. Now, Obamacare is re-emerging and the white folk’s taxes are going to fly high. Systematic Dumbassism

Vernon is an imbecile. CEO also regularly does things with the governor and it half the team walked the whole of CFB would have known.

Nope, season ticket holder since 1995. Just tired of entitled children that think they know or have experienced anything in the real world. I include professionals in this group of children as well.

From the kid about to be picked in the first round of the NFL? How’s that going to change his decision?
