With the coaching chatter heating up around LSU, one thing is clear: leadership in the athletic department will do whatever it takes to keep defensive coordinator Dave Aranda on the staff.

Aranda signed a three-year contract worth 1.2 million per year last spring and LSU currently has one of the top defenses in the country.

According to Ross Dellenger with The Advocate, LSU leadership knows that keeping Aranda on the staff is a top priority.

One thing is certain: Leadership at the university is expected to go to great lengths to keep defensive coordinator Dave Aranda on staff. Aranda signed a three-year contract worth $1.2 million per year in the spring.

His defense has allowed the fewest touchdowns in college football, giving up just 11 touchdowns in 10 games. The Tigers are 11th in total defense nationally (308.1 yards a game) and are sixth in scoring (14.1).

In its four losses, LSU has given up a combined three touchdowns. The unit has held every opponent to less than 21 points, something that only three Southeastern Conference programs have accomplished since 1990.
Aranda was hired in the Spring to replace Kevin Steele who left for Auburn.

Without Aranda, we wouldn't be bowl eligible.

Regardless of who the HC is next year, if he doesn't keep Aranda, Imma be pissed! Amanda is the best DC we've had since Bo Polini

Best DC since Saban.

Why is everyone ready to give away money for no reason? I haven't heard Aranda make any demands. He may be happy with his current contract, which is only 1 year old with 2 remaining. I agree, we Must keep him. But at least wait until he asks for something.

Why wait? Throw SOMETHING at him to show him some appreciation for a job well done. I'm not up on how much he makes per year or how much LSU is willing to spend on a new head coach, but he should be offered something.

No, with the current state of the program, not knowing who the head coach will be, we have to assure Aranda a job here no matter who is named head coach.

Hand him the checkbook and pen and have him name his price to keep him here.

He needs to be kept no matter what. Football is about offense and defense. He's the best defensive coordinator in the country. No sense in letting the best guy on one side of the ball go in favor of a great guy on the other side of the ball. Need to keep Aranda AND get a great OC and head coach.

Aranda has stated that he doesn't want to be a head coach, according to sources. If that's true, I see no reason to think Jimbo, O or anyone with half a brain wouldn't want this guy to be his DC! Coach O gives Aranda full control as he should. Better make damn sure any other coach they might hire would do the same.

Herman and Aranda are college buddies and would definitely want to work together.

If no Jimbo or Herman make Dave the coach. 39 yrs old he could start a dynasty.

You have to make Dave Aranda the highest paid D.C. In the country without a doubt and since he's only 39 give him the coach in waiting tag as well...

Just think.... If LSU's offense gets up on anyone 14-21 points IT'S OVER!!!

Don't worry gang. I think Jimbo is smart enough to keep Aranda. He has literally been the MVP of this team! Jimbo's problem this year is his defense has been terrible. Imagine pairing Aranda with Jimbo's offense! That I would like to see!

Slow your roll, if the choices are Jimbo vs Ed O, Aranda, and an unamed o cord, then I say Aranda is not a must keep. If Jimbo wants him then he is a must keep. Just not at the expense of having to hire O.

If "Great Lengths" in any way means hiring Ed Orgeron, then cut him the f**k loose too.

I'd almost be subject to say keep him at all costs... even if that means handing him the keys.

He has to be kept. Period. 3 touchdowns allowed in our 4 losses...stunning. Jesus if we could average 24 a game!?!?!?!?!

If Harbaugh has taught us anything, it's that coaching at a school and being part of a real community is far more rewarding than anything the NFL can offer.

I was so F-ing ecstatic when we hired him last year. Please God let's do it again with the head coaching hire.
