by TD Staff ReporterDecember 21, 2020

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports
Brooks Kubena with The Advocate is reporting that LSU is expected to part ways with passing game coordinator Scott Linehan after just one season.
Linehan was hired on February 18, signing a 2-year deal worth about $800,000 a year. He replaced former passing game coordinator Joe Brady who left to take the offensive coordinator position with the Carolina Panthers.

That said, [below], our best option to replace Lineham is Hands down Hugh Freeze....Why...Hugh is better than pretty much anyone else in SEC at knowing how to beat bama with just offense (and with lesser talent); and Bama is our biggest regular season hurdle year in and year out ; my close 2nd to hugh freeze for passing game coordinator wwould be Brad Johnson, MAx's dad. If we can get these two (and halfway decent DC) we will be playing for a natty at end of 2021 season

What makes you think that Hugh Freeze (who was rumored to be a candidate for the AU Head Coaching position) would give up his position as a Head Coach and come to LSU as a Passing game co-ordinator? Why don't we get Nick Saban to be our secondary coach!?!

Lineham should have figured out at least 3-4 games sooner that Max Johnson is the 1 . He is clearly only one out of the 3 qb's at LSU who has Burreaux potential....because he has moxie, he is a scrapper who will put his body and everything on the line to walk off the field with a W. Myles Brenna definitely does Not have that. Johnson, like Burreaux, also has a higher football IQ which translates to more confidence and better decision making ability because his dad has been coaching him his whole life....and you better believe his dad is a great cooach, speshly at qb position, having been an nfl quarterback who also won a superbowl.

Good. At least O realizes these clowns were about to cost him his dream job. 9-3 would have been acceptable in a rebuilding year, but 5-5 is inexcusable with all that talent. They better be back in the hunt next year!

1) 9-3 was unattainable with a 10 game schedule. 2) They lost all but 4 starters, had no spring ball, constantly covid interrupted summer conditioning, and minimal ball. 3) Brennan, who was slinging it in his first three games, got knocked out for the season leaving two true freshman to lead the offense. Once the defense started showing a modicum of improvement, the offense was the one lagging behind.

Ensminger was good and loyal to LSU. Linehan was a huge problem. Ensminger was not completely the best but was ok at it, just needed a good partner like brady to compliment along the way

And it only cost a few hundred thousand dollars more than six million of other peoples money.

There appear to be two ways to dominate, offensively, in college football. One way is to recruit 5 star offensive lineman and run the ball down the opponents throat or allow the QB enough time to sit back, trim his nails and pick a receiver to throw to. Another way is to
have some offensive creativity without much predictability. LSU has great athletes every year that can perform like Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama. At times, this year, it felt like Les Miles was influencing the play calling on offense, again.

Not sure I agree on the Les part. Only time they ever went under center was on qb sneaks. Sometimes a good ole fashioned i formation on 3td and goal is what's needed.

This guy sure does get far with name recognition. He's failed in so many places, but keeps getting hired, keeps getting fired, keeps getting paid!

I agree but I do not understand the love for Ensminger either? He should be gone as well. Get us two young offensive minds to both develop the QB's and a powerful offense. "Brady like hires"

I'd like Brady like hires too, but those dude's don't exactly grow on trees and if you look at the best OCs in the SEC, they're head coach re-treads or head coaches calling the plays.

He was brought in as a 3rd down specialist... our 3rd down conversions were pretty awful except for the florida game. It was 34% this year, whereas last year we were operating at a 48% tic.
