NOLA.com is reporting that the decision to fire former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron was made by interim head coach Ed Orgeron.
quote:

After replacing Miles on an interim basis Sunday, Ed Orgeron was given the option to make the call on LSU's embattled offensive coordinator, the source said.

Orgeron ultimately decided a major change in philosophy was needed and chose to elevate tight ends coach Steve Ensminger to the position. Ensminger, a former LSU quarterback, has been a coordinator at multiple stops in his 30-year career, including McNeese State, Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M and Clemson. He had been coaching tight ends at LSU since 2010.

I am not sure I buy this....if you don't feel comfortable giving a guy a head coaching position, why would you be ok with giving him authority to hire/fire other coaches?

Who said they weren't comfortable giving him a head coaching position? No way you make any head coach announcement during the season. No matter how they feel, that would never happen.

O's HC record be damned. I don't see anyone in a better position to diagnose this team than O, having seen it on all sides. Having seen the mistakes Les made as a HC -as well as his own- the biggest of which was not letting your coordinators coordinate. If O has learned to delegate, can lure a serious OC to BTR, keep Aranda happy, no more cutesy ST crap, and continue his own recruiting level and motivational expertise...we just might have our answer already. Prepare for a shirtless Head-butt.

I love the man, but not as our head coach past this year.

If O thought it was a case of not letting your coordinators do their job, why fire Cam?

That tells me so much more about what O thinks. He isn't doing this to get the season over. He's taking charge and that means he wants to win.

Absolutely. He is using this a resume builder that will help him get the LSU job full time, or another major P5 school. Firing Cam Cameron was the right decision for LSU and for Coach O. Bravo Coach O bravo.

...And he has his dream-job carrot on a stick thing fire under his butt. This man will run through walls to win, and no one...I mean NO ONE in the country wants the LSU HC job more. I love it. Yaw-friggin-Yaw, Bebe.

Cam Cameron ended costing us a great head coach. Miles was too stubborn to let Cam go, and it was Miles's undoing.
