The 46-year old coach has been the special team's coordinator at Notre Dame since 2017. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Nevada from 2013-2016.

Before taking the Nevada job, Polian was the special team's coordinator and tight ends coach at Texas A&M during the 2012-2013 season.

Polian's father is former NFL executive Bill Polian.

The Polian hire means that LSU special teams coordinator Greg McMahon will not be retained. McMahon was hired by Ed Orgeron in 2017.

With the exception of Place Kickers at LSU the Special Teams haven't been anything ’Special’ in a while.

Let's hope Polian recruits better kickers than he did at ND.

I'm sure there are much better kickers in the LSU recruiting pool than the one for ND.

Special teams was not the problem, but I guess it’s all about comfort/ familiarity.

So the early reports that Kelly was ghosting" his ND staff were bullshite. Good. Still needs to get Joe Brady, though.

I agree about Brady. We can't fall asleep on this no brainer. He will either end up in OU or most likely UMiami. He doesnt fit Kelly style of smash them in the mouth football. Thats to include recieving RBs'

Kellys style isn't smash them unless that's the only talent he can get. It wasn't like that at all at Cincinnati. It won't be like that at LSU.
