LSU lost to Missouri last season 45-41 in a game that went down the wire with the Tigers failing to convert at the goal-line.

LSU had the ball 1st and Goal at Missouri's 1-yard line with 37-seconds left in the game. Running back Tyrion Davis-Price ran the ball on first and second down with no gain on both plays. On third and fourth down, Myles Brennan threw two incomplete passes toward Terrace Marshall Jr.

On Thursday at SEC Media Days, Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz talked about the end of the game and LSU's playcalling.
quote:

“Oh my god please don’t quarterback sneak it on the 1-yard line," Drinkwitz remembered thinking.

"And they didn’t for four straight plays.”

Drinkwitz added that his team was seriously depleted of defensive lineman that game due to Covid-19.

I believe that MB was hurt pretty fricking bad at the end of that game so no way we risk a QB sneak.

If CEO knew MB was too hurt to play them he shouldn’t have been playing! Esp considering we HAD 2 big Ole’ Baws at QB2 & 3. Both should’ve been able to convert at that point in the game. Missouri Defense was shot.

If only we had a 6’7” 250lb QB on the roster who could fall forward for a yard for one play

Shocking we didn't have any wildcat ready or something to replace Myles for one freaking yard.

They didn't QB sneak it because of Myles. As Myles represented zero threat to run. Hence, Missouri could completely focus on stopping TDP. Meanwhile, if Max would have been the QB, as opposed to Myles, LSU would have QB sneaked it in on first down and won the game.

But in some ways there exactly why you try it at least once. They weren't focusing on him.

That play may not have been an option at the time. Myles played hurt in the entire 2nd half. If healthy he could have ran a QB sneak

So put Max or TJ in just to run a sneak. Hell, we did that with Anthony Jennings his freshman year.

Are we to believe the genius braintrust of Cheesy Beaver could have converted in that moment?

Bro almost anybody could have called a play to convert in that moment. It was miserably bad.

Had Myles not been injured we would have punched it in with a sneak. That's an LSU goal line play.

Would have worked with Max. Just sayin.

Certainly. No doubt Myles was in terrific pain at that point in the game. Apparently Finley wasn't ready to replace Myles in that situation.

To those who believe they could have inserted another QB to run a sneak how smart would it have been to insert a freshman with no experience to handle his first snap with the game on the line. No doubt he expected to be able to punch it in from the one with the big back, but the line did not execute. On third down had Brennan lobbed the pass over the defense end it would have been a walkin for Marshall. On fourth down they went to the best receiver and the DB made a great play.

Nah it was terrible fricking playcalling. If they stop Emory or Davis-Price there 4 times or even Finley fine.

Well in hindsight it couldn't have been any dumber than what they did...
