Nola.com is reporting that LSU has reached out to Clancy Pendergast to replace John Chavis who is headed to Texas A&M.
quote:

Source told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Wednesday afternoon that Tigers coach Les Miles called Clancy Pendergast to gauge his interest in replacing Chavis as defensive coordinator.

Pendergast, 47, was USC's defensive coordinator in 2013 but was not retained by new coach Steve Sarkisian for the 2014 season despite the Trojans ranking No. 1 in the Pac-12 in passing defense and No. 2 in rushing defense. Pendergast spent this season out of coaching.
Prendergast served as defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals from 2004-08, which includes Super Bowl XLIII, and with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009.

Nola.com also says that Alabama linebackers coach Kevin Steele, former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron and Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator Manny Diaz are also being considered.

Better him than Kevin Steele. The last time Steele was defensive coordinator he allowed 70 points to west Virginia. Please stay away from Steele!

I agree. Pendergast would be a great hire. I sure hope he's interested. He's also supposedly a pretty good recruiter, something Chavis isn't.

@beatbamax15

Are you F-n stupid? This guy had the #1 defense in PAC at Cal, then went to USC and had the #1 defense in the PAC. That defense was better than our defense last year and not far from our defense this year at the back half of the season (minus the bowl game).

He faces a myriad of diverse offenses in the PAC and knew how to contain them.

He was requested by several DCs in the NFL and college level to teach them how to better stop specific offenses.

Guy is all about getting pressure on the QB, something we have failed miserably to do the last 2 years.

Oh yeah, and he did some minor things like coach the Cardinals D for several years including the super bowl where he only allowed 292 yards.
