Per LSUSports.net: TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With one final opportunity to win the game, quarterback Max Johnson’s pass to Brian Thomas was broken up in the end zone as time expired, as No. 3 Alabama defeated LSU, 20-14, on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

After jumping out to a 7-0 lead, the Tigers’ defense posted four consecutive stops consisting of two turnover of downs and two three-and-outs. LSU’s opening drive was sparked by a fake punt/jump pass from senior punter Avery Atkins to sophomore Jack Mashburn, leading to a Brian Thomas touchdown.

You are a massive underdog, on the road, playing your tail off, and your offense hasn’t looked great. I think the game could have been managed better (esp with time outs), but you go for the touchdown and let your defense and their kicker win it for us.

That was the most fun I’ve had at a game since 2019

Great job by the defense! Wish Cade York had been allowed to add a field goal or two or three…

Makes me feel like we can win the last 3... with Nuss at the helm. Finish 7-5 with a win over aTm

Nice effort for the team. Sad that O has sunk things so far that we can all celebrate how we lost a close one.

Dude, the defense is out 8 starters and they held Alabama to 6 yards rushing, their lowest in the 21st century. Give credit where it’s due. We are an average team and that is the #2 team in the country. Nobody expected that.

Seems this is where the pride is for LSU. It's not with the highly-touted, four and five star recruits. It's with THESE guys. Those players, Saturday night, have chest.

Yeah, 6:46 left in the game, get the 3....then we kick for tie later. We will never know, but percentages say get the 3 w that much time left...We seemed to have Bamas number tonight, caught them off a bit...still couldn't pull the trigger...good effort though...

The 14 points the Elephants scored off of turnovers were a killer!

nope, thats just what sean payton does and it backfires every time. the main problem was at end of game when we got down to bama 10, they werent getting plays in fast enough, which gave defense time to breathe and read our sets....then johnson ran out of steam and they should have pulled him out and put nussmeir in.

They played their hearts out and our genius HC goes for it on 4th and goal with 7 minutes left instead of kicking the field goal…..and of course we are the 30 years line on the last play…. Sure would have been nice to have had the chance to tie there:

It was clear they were going all out from the get go. Going for it on fourth with the fake punt got us our first score. Several other fourth down conversions looked good. Just didn't get that one that we needed near the goal.

If we had a QB with a pulse we would have won. Zero zip on the ball and zero awareness.

hindsight 20/20 easy to say that but its not accurate. see above response....saints employ that reasoning all the time and it never works

Absolutely. An under-manned roster competed all night. Proud of their effort. GT!
