After just one season at LSU, defensive back Sevyn Banks quietly declared for the NFL Draft instead of returning for what would be his final year of eligibility next season.

Banks transferred to LSU from Ohio State last April, but injuries sidelined him most of the season. Per The Advocate:
quote:

Banks transferred to LSU last spring after starting his career at Ohio State. He missed the first three games as he recovered from an injury, then Banks suffered a bruised spinal cord when he made a tackle on the opening kickoff Oct. 1 against Auburn. He did not play the rest of the season.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft was Jan. 16. Banks never made an announcement about his future, and it was widely thought he had returned to LSU.

Banks was a four-star recruit and the No. 221 overall player in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He appeared in every game his sophomore year at Ohio State before turning into a starter with early-round draft potential.

He’ll go undrafted and then try to make a practice squad. Poor choice, should have played next year to improve his draft stock!

"The former Ohio State starter is trying to reach the NFL after injuries derailed the last two seasons."

Well Sevyn, you may want to sit down for this... I have some bad news.

Comments are kinda stupid here. LSU brought in how many corners this year? This isn't like last year when it was basically the Oklahoma St guy and some lower tier guys. Not only is this serious competition, dude has gotten hurt plenty in his career. More injuries in college do nothing for you. Best thing you can do is pass a physical and try to make a practice squad and work your way up. Welch in year 2, 5 star Denver Harris, the track speed kid from Ohio St, Chestnut from Syracuse, even the 6'3 Alexander kid who was a star at the lower level. Many of you likely didn't even have the kid in the 2 deep.

Likely. There's a chance that he gets drafted late and makes an impression. Nothing to do here except wish him good health and luck. Carry on.
