LSU announced Monday morning that offensive lineman Josh Boutte has been suspended for the Jacksonville State game after his late hit on Saturday. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

BATON ROUGE – LSU coach Les Miles has suspended offensive lineman Josh Boutte for one game for his late-game personal foul on Wisconsin defensive back D’Cota Dixon.

Miles said Boutte will sit out LSU’s home-opener against Jacksonville State on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

“Josh made a mistake and will serve a one game suspension because of it,” Miles said. “Even though this was done by mistake, a play like this does not belong in the game of football and therefore action must be taken.

“This play does not define Josh as a person and is not indicative of the type of player he is. We sincerely apologize for his mistake.”

Miles said that Boutte called Dixon on Monday morning to personally apologize for the personal foul.

He should have ran to the sideline and laid that blow on Miles. I don't think any of the Tiger fans would have had a problem with that. They might have even made him a team Captain. He would've had my vote!

Mouche- I was thinking the same thing- he should have unloaded on Les and/or Cam. Those two need a wake up call!

While it was definitely a cheap shot and should be punished, I was kind of glad to see someone show an ounce of 'give a shit' attitude on the field. We have no fire

Give Josh a medal. Only good hit of the day. Maybe he can instill some fight into the Tigers, Les can't.

Les should be more worried about a permanent suspension for himself as in being fired of course!! Can't get his team motivated to play, can't generate any offense, can't display the talent he has. Time to win over Herman & get us back to being relevant rather than overrated every season.

It wasn't a 'mistake' and even if it was it doesn't excuse the action. Completely uncalled for.

So, if it wasn't a mistake then you think he made the correct decision? I suspect you are confusing the word "mistake" with "accident."

The whistle was never blown to signal the play dead.

The whistle was blown. As for those calling for Boutte to be suspended for the whole year. That is a bunch of crap. He made an error in judgement in the heat of frustration. He is going to pay for it now. I think a 2 game suspension would have sent a better message. On another note, I think Les should have worded his statement better. I know what he means when he says "mistake" and he means Boutte made an error in judgement. The word mistake in this context especially after Les' prior statement about how it could have been that Boutte did not realize the play was dead.

Should be out for the year. Cheapest shot I've ever seen in sports. Couldve really injured that DB both on and off the field.

Wow!!!! Are we worried about that? Give a chance to Danny Etling and more playing time to the other rb's. Fixed the OL, and let WR loose...

Thank God you aren't the coach or you would be sending in QBs with back injuries.
