During his post-practice press conference on Thursday, head coach Brian Kelly announced that he has excused Kayshon Boutte from the New Mexico game on Saturday as his girlfriend is giving birth to their first child.

Kelly expressed that he wanted to make the announcement public so there were no rumors swirling on Saturday when Boutte does not play.

I’m all for the man attending his child’s birth. But someone explain to me why a scheduled birth couldn’t be scheduled around the game.

Recently, became a father myself and I can say it's better for his long-term longevity to do what the mom wants.

The LSU tweet says they expect their first child, as in that’s when the baby is due. Nothing about scheduled birth.

I’m impressed he will make at least one birthday for the child.
