A big takeaway from LSU's practice on Thursday was that transfer quarterback Jayden Daniels took most of the first-team reps.

Garrett Nussmeier would have taken first-team reps with Daniels but is being held out due to a minor ankle injury, coach Brian Kelly said after practice.

Myles Brennan worked with the second-team offense.

Well, whomever it is or whatever combo it is, needs to beat FSU to start. Then we have 2 games to sort out the true #1 by SEC play. If CBK picks whomever to start game 1 and we lose….

I just want to see the best QB play. I've seen alot of comments and read alot from pundits that seem to be leaning to JD. Nuss is battling hard and has flashed well. MB is solid and consistent. I have seen play by play accounts, however that illustrate inaccuracy from JD. He could not score from the red zone yesterday and had most of the first team reps. MB had little work with the 1s, but managed multiple consecutive completions and a red zone score with limited action. JD reportedly did well with wide open receivers in short to intermediate throws, but struggled with covered receivers and took too long to make decisions. MB made quick decisions and accurate reads. All I'm saying is, there's more to evaluate from them all and details matter. I'll cheer for whomever it is, but they need to get it right rather than go for a popular pick in a hurry. Nevertheless, I think we probably see all of them in action this year, providing they all stay, which is highly unlikely. Geaux Tigers!!!

I know Daniels is probably a little quicker than Nuss, but am I wrong, Nuss has some above average wheels for a QB? All I know is if Daniels jumps every time he throws the ball like he did in the spring game, he won't be playing for long.

Not sure how much inside info he has but Culotta said it's going to be Nuss or Daniels and MB has no shot.

We re lucky to be in this spot…. Look forward to seeing the young talent… but with all of these respect my decision kids these days. I’m a huge fan of Myles for all he’s endured and his heart of a tiger

Maybe Daniels and nuss are getting a lot of 1st team reps to battle out who’ll backup Brennan, ever thought of that ?

Dude no

I have never thought about that. I think you may be the only person to have ever thought about that. Why wouldn’t they take 2nd team…oh never mind. I am not going to try to reason with you on this, it’s illogical.

It’s very logical, it’s training camp. The coaches are trying to see what they have and how the depth chart will be. Let’s say hypothetically myles is the leader for starting job, before he starts getting all the 1st team reps, you let Jd and nuss get reps with 1st team to better evaluate who’ll be his backup right. It is better to evaluate talent with 1st team instead of 3rd team right?

With over 7k total yards in 3 seasons JD can handle the pressure, I trust the coaches

JD is a duel threat. He can run also. This opens up the whole field and defenses will have a hard time defending. If his passing has improved with more accuracy, I can see why he starts. He brings more to the table. I trust this staff to make the right decision.

The problem I have with him is accuracy (hopefully coaching can fix his poor footwork). Second, he takes off too quickly. He bolts 15% of his drop backs. Was that cause his o line was trash. Maybe. But that’s a huge # for a qb.

Dual threat and he can run also? Must make him a triple threat! College student? They're looking for two and three now behind Brennan.

I think no matter who we start we’ll be 6-6. I wish Myles the best as he’s been dedicated but I just don’t see him starting since it’s been 2 years since the dude touched football

Boss move by Brennan and the coaching staff.

We'll need both JD and Nuss this year and also helps to quell any rifts with the younger/newer guys on the team.
