CeeDee Lamb Opens Up About LSU Recruitment During High School

USA TODAY Sports
Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb recently reflected on his recruitment by LSU and why he ultimately decided the Tigers weren’t the right fit.
Lamb, a Louisiana native who moved to Texas after Hurricane Katrina, said LSU did recruit him, but the Tigers entered the picture somewhat late and their offense at the time didn’t appeal to him.
“They did recruit me, but it was kind of late,” Lamb said on the Downs to Business podcast. “I feel like the scheme at that time, it wasn’t for me. I ain’t gonna lie. It wasn’t. It wasn’t the Joe Burrow. It wasn’t all that Joe Brady.”
Lamb said receiving an LSU offer was still a memorable moment during his recruitment, but he wasn’t convinced he would have enough success in the Tigers’ offense.
“They wasn’t hitting because that offense wasn’t hitting for nothing,” Lamb said. “I felt like I wasn’t gonna have no success at that time.”
Lamb ultimately signed with Oklahoma, where he became one of the top wide receivers in college football before being selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He also acknowledged how dramatically LSU’s offense changed shortly afterward, especially during its historic 2019 national championship season.
“But you fast forward, as you see how they turning around 2019, ’18, and then the rest is history.”
