ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach updated their College Football Playoff and Bowl Projections after Week 6.

With Penn State losing last week to UCLA, Schlabach moved LSU back into his playoff projections as the No. 11 seed, playing its first-round matchup on the road at No. 6 Oklahoma.

If that were to happen, the Tigers would be making a return trip to Norman after facing the Sooners in the regular season finale.

Schlabach has the Sooners beating LSU in the first round and moving on to face No. 3 Miami in the Quarterfinals.

quote:

Schlabach: Penn State's stunning 42-37 loss at previously winless UCLA shook up my 12-team bracket. I'd already dropped the Nittany Lions to No. 11 after last week's 30-24 loss in two overtimes to Oregon, and now they're out of my bracket altogether. It's a stunning fall for James Franklin's program.

LSU replaces Penn State, although I strongly considered Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and even two-loss Notre Dame for the final spot. I'm still not completely sold on LSU as a CFP team because of its inconsistent offense.

Two of the most intriguing first-round matchups in this scenario would be Georgia traveling to Indiana, where it could be quite cold, and LSU facing Oklahoma in an all-SEC game.

First-round games (at campus sites)
Friday, Dec. 19/Saturday, Dec. 20
Times and networks TBD.

Schlabach: No. 12 South Florida at No. 5 Texas A&M

Schlabach: No. 11 LSU at No. 6 Oklahoma

Schlabach: No. 10 Georgia at No. 7 Indiana

Schlabach: No. 9 Texas Tech at No. 8 Alabama
Bonagura, on the other hand, has LSU playing Florida State in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl:

eh. I doubt they put us in a rematch against an Oklahoma team that we would have just beat on the road a few weeks prior.

If it's like this, 4 sec schools will win I think.

Ok v LSU in CFP...do these fools even look at the schedule? The loser of that last game will be out. We know we will have at least one loss, maybe 2. We would need to win at Norman. Doubt they would be ranked 6th if that happens...

We have zero run game, and a head case at QB yet we’ll make it to the playoffs.

Is it though? Only scored over 23 once. South Carolina, Vandy, A&M, Bama, Arkansas all before OU game. They are losing a minimum of 2 of those and probably 3.
