LSU head coach Ed Orgeron was speaking at the Rotary Club on Wednesday at Tiger Stadium and shared a funny story about the recruitment of freshman nose tackle Apu Ika.

During one of the in-home visits with Ika, Orgeron and assistant coach Bill Busch were having dinner with the family at their home in Salt Lake City, Utah and were eating some meat they couldn't identify.

Turns out it was sheep meat...

Orgeron added that Ika was once 390-pounds but is now down to a "slim 356."

I don't understand it, but when I watched his game films and camp films Ika was always extremely dominant. When I watched Ish's game films and camp films, nothing ever stuck out to me as being dominant. Yet Ish was rated a five-star and Ika was rated only a four-star. Never made sense to me then and still don't today, but I'm glad we ended up with Ika cause in my mind he is by far the better of the two.

I'm no recruiting guru, but my theory is that it probably had a lot to do with the competition each faced during their seasons, wish Ish facing tougher opponents. But that doesn't account for Ika still looking dominant in the all star game(s).

That he didn't know what he was eating. Self humor.
