During his weekly radio show on Wednesday night, head coach Ed Orgeron said that Danny Etling will continue to start at quarterback when the Tigers take on Tennessee this Saturday but that freshman Myles Brennan will go in the game if Etling is not playing well.

He also said that if LSU is up big vs. Vols that Brennan will see playing time.

What you described =/= what you cite in Andrew Lopez's post.

I'm guessing Lopez meant to say Myles instead of Danny.

Danny keeps the games close in the first half so brennan cant get reps

Much like the rest of America, Live for the Now, not for the tomorrow, apparently that’s O’s motto. Me, i would get and get the Brennan some meaningful reps against a conference foe. We should be up double digits by the mid 3rd, let him play all the way to the clock hits :00

I understand your point, but that’s a slippery slope. At what point is the point when the priority becomes next year versus this year. We still have a chance for a ten win season. Most importantly, it’s doesn’t seem fair to seniors and fans to stop playing to win and sandbag a game in order to prepare for next year.

What about if we are down big?

Brennan needs more snaps for experience. Danny is the starter but Brennan needs some reps in these last couple of conference games and then in the bowl game. And, I don't mean three handoffs and victory formation. He needs to run the offense and go through his checkdowns with receivers. Real game experience.

10 wins don't mean anything. Tigers used to play just 8 games a year, so get over it and get off my damn lawn.

Yep. 10 wins means nothing. Dumbass....

A lot of folks getting confused. Based on how the season started with some unacceptable losses, O now HAS to win out. The better business decision would be to name MB our starter and roll, but our fan base does not think logically and wants to over react. O wont take that chance. Anyways, carry on and Fire Alleva

Tennessee is prolly not a den of snakes, but it could be. Better to have Danny's experience to start and see what the opposition truly is, than to risk overwhelming MB. Once the dust settles a bit, as it should, hand over the reigns to MB. O is being cautious here, but still playing to win, so no arguments from me on this plan.

If O were to start Myles and lost a couple of these last games our fans would then be calling for his head. You just can't win in a situation like this so you win the game by what ever means and then you take care of next year, when that time comes. I would be opposed to giving him some of the second quarter say if LSU were up 17-0 or more by then, or the 3rd quarter if it's obvious that LSU is running at will, which will likely happen. I hope Canada has a great running game planned bc the up the middle everytime will not work. You have to mix it up with the edges for the middle to open up. Use those jet sweeps and the pitch to open things up. Then hit them deep when they creep up. Most of all don't turn the ball over bc I'm sure Tenn is banking on TOs and mistakes by LSU to stay in the game. Be aware going in and don't give them what they want. Go kick some arse Tigers!

My kids STILL pretend they are Brandon Harris when they pass in the backyard...then they throw it 25 feet over my head!

People need to realize LSU always struggles against the Vols. 9-20-3 lifetime. Even worse in Knoxville. So don’t think this a given. We must protect the ball and be ready for a full 60 minute battle to win this game. Having experience on the field is key. I trust our coaching staff to do what needs to be done.

LSU is 6 and 2 since 2000. LSU is 8 and 7 since 1974 LSU has won the last 4 I'll take that as Knoxville vs LSU not like it used to be.

I am always afraid to play Tennessee. When I was at LSU '56-'60, I didn't know Tennessee had a football team until they beat us in '59 the week after the Halloween game with Ole Miss. Then we didn't play them again for a decade it seems and they beat us again. They are like roaches - I only notice them when they mess something up.
