LSU officially announced the hires of new defensive coaches Corey Raymond, Kevin Peoples, & Jake Olsen on Thursday.

On Friday, their contract details were revealed by The Advocate.

Raymond returns to LSU to coach the defensive backs after two seasons at Florida and has received a two-year contract with a team option for 2026. He will make $200,000 (a sum offset by his buyout from Florida) in his first season and then $755,000 annually afterwards.

Peoples, who will serve as edge rushers coach, signed a three-year deal worth $2.1 million, paying him $700,000 per year.

New safeties coach Jake Olsen signed a two-year deal and will make $350,000 in his first season and $400,000 in his second.

Upon his return to LSU, Raymond agreed to a two-year contract with a team option for 2026. LSU will pay him $200,000 his first season, a sum offset by his buyout from Florida after he was fired last November as part of a staff overhaul.

After that, Raymond will make $755,000 per year, which equaled his reported salary with the Gators. LSU will have the option to keep Raymond on staff in 2026. He is the only coach with an option year in his deal.

Peoples signed a three-year deal worth $2.1 million last Friday. He will make $700,000 per year, a significant bump from his previous salary. Peoples earned $400,000 each of the last two years, according to his contract as Missouri's edge rushers coach. LSU also covered his $500,000 buyout.

The truth can be painful, especially when it is ignored and pushed to the side for less than optimal indoctrinations.

A fair salary for any of us is what the market will bear. You can’t blame any of us for asking for more money. Whether we are worth it or not depends on our production. The production you can not measure is how Corey’s presence influence players to come to LSU that do not play the position he coaches. Trust me, it is big. Our recent recruiting losses from Louisiana west of the Mississippi has a lot to do with Kevin Faulk and Corey not being on staff. We need Brady as OC. Bills 8-2, since he has been hired.

Given time, Corey Raymond will once again whine about being underpaid

Not really, normally when a recently fired coach gets a new job, he has to pay back the buyout he received from his last job. It’s more like Florida is paying him 500k to be our DB coach.

Florida pays buyout so offsets what we pay him. They still owed him money making him cheaper for us

Obviously Brian Kelly is being very cautious in his rehire of Corey Raymond. If Corey Raymonds production with his secondary improves dramatically over term of his contract, they can elect to sweeten the pot and extend his contract as a reward. Seems reasonable for Brian Kelly to do.

Not only is he being cautious with the structure of the contract, but strategic in the hire of Olsen who can take over the secondary should the corners flounder.

If Brian Kelly loses the next Alabama game, he should get fired before he steps off the field.
