LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt’s status for Saturday’s game against Ole Miss became a major storyline Wednesday night when he was listed as doubtful on the initial SEC availability report.

Now, more details have emerged regarding the injury.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Leavitt is dealing with a shoulder injury and did not throw during Wednesday’s practice.

The injury comes after Leavitt spent much of the offseason working his way back from a Lisfranc injury that ended his 2025 season at Arizona State.

Leavitt underwent surgery last November and later had hardware removed from his foot in April, causing him to miss most of LSU’s spring practice while rehabbing. He returned to full strength during the summer and entered the season healthy.

Leavitt has started both games for LSU this season, including Saturday’s 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech.

His status will now be closely monitored as LSU prepares for Saturday’s Top-10 matchup against Ole Miss in Oxford.

Just once I’d love if we could have a QB make it through a season.

I had longevity concerns after seeing his head-first running style in game 1....but 2 games? Yikes.

Did he get injured on that very late hit that went unflagged?

CLK strategy. Mind games for OM. Clark is perfectly able to beat OM, but I bet SL starts.

If this injury lingers, LSU is screwed.

I figured he’d get injured at some point since he’s incapable of sliding and injury prone but I didn’t see it coming this soon.

Well, we’ll see if he’s got the it factor or if he’s rocking that “already got paid, don’t wanna risk it” gene. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes soft on us. Just doesn’t seem to have that fire in him quite like Joey B…
