Calling out players in a positive way is much nicer that throwing them under the bus.

This is why Kelly is a "real" HC, unlike Miles and Orgeron, he holds players accountable. He's absolutely right in calling out Jenkins to be a leader, he should be one, he's a senior. He had a bad season last year and should be looking to do everything and anything possible to turn it around this season.

The best way he can show leadership is beating DBs and catching TD passes.

Looks like Coach Kelly is looking for a leader and he thinks he found one. I don't see it as a calling out but a great big promotion. This could change JJ in ways he never knew it could and might be the best thing that can happen to him at LSU. It's up to JJ to accept and execute.

There’s nothing wrong with Jaray Jenkins. There are players who loves to stand in front of the room and command the attention of the room. And then there are players who are comfortable just being in the room and letting their practice habits and play on the field lead. Some guys are just not comfortable leading vocally and that’s fine and 100% of the time you can’t force them to change. Maybe Jenks is one of those “lead by example” guys and that’s cool. Besides KB is the Alfa Dog in the WR room and he should be the fiery vocal leader and Jenks should be the calming force when things get tough for the youngsters. I say let JJ be JJ.

get used to Kelly doing this. He called players at ND out in public all the time.

Jaray is the lone Sr in the WR group and is talented. Not surprised Coach is sending him this message.

What if your coach is a psychopath? Does that maybe give you a little wiggle room?

This is the way i took it also. Not negative, just feels hes a guy the other players look up to and wants him to be more out front with the team. Step into the spotlight Jaray. Its your time big dawg

I think Kelly better hold back a bit on calling players out through the press….lots of other teams would love to have a player such as Jaray.
user avatar
I took it as almost a backhanded compliment and a desire to see Jaray do more because BK knows it’s there. That’s motivation rather than calling out

Kelly is to opulent (fancy for you coonasses) to coach in the south. He can’t motivate like this. Sorry for bringing you the future.

Jaray has never been a real talkative kid around me. Just very humble and always smiling, lol.

You don’t have to be a talker to be a leader. You can lead by example and the way you do things. He probably has confidence in Jenkins and Kelly may trying to let him know he sees more in him than Jenkins sees in himself.
