On Monday, LSU head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that linebacker Harold Perkins will miss the rest of the season with a significant knee injury.

The news has now left many contemplating if Perkins has possibly played his last game with the Tigers as he looks to rehab and prepare for the NFL.

On Monday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked to comment on Perkins' future outlook but said it was too early to make those kinds of decisions. Per On3:
quote:

“I don’t think any of those decisions are made,” Brian Kelly said. “Way too soon for him or his family to have made any kind of declaration whether this is his last game or not. I think they’re just trying to get ahold of the surgery and the rehab associated with it.”

“He’ll take all that into consideration and then when it’s time to make a decision, he’ll make a decision,” Kelly said. “Certainly, he has plenty of time before he has to make that decision.”

Please remember how bad Mason Smith was last year, and how high he went despite how he played.

serious question -- is Perkins REALLY going to be a high draft pick? He's done very little the last 2 years to justify it. Are NFL GMs really seeing something we're not?

yes. NFL drafts on potential as much as stats. look at Anthony Richardson out of Florida, he played what, a single season, and had mediocre stats...but his potential was high and he was taken in the 1st.

Well, he's been been putting up extremely mediocre stats on my fantasy team. Maybe performance matters more than potential.

Given the way or the lack there of in how he was used on defense the last 2 seasons I think he’s going to leave. You’d think he’s even more frustrated with how things have gone and how’s he’s been used. I think the kid is a tremendous pass rusher! He has all of the athletic talent to be a middle backer but that’s just not a good fit for him.

He had a great freshman season like #24. Both had lackluster sophomore & junior seasons. Both were injured ( #24 suspiciously ). HP’s was a definite big one. HP had as much upside as # 24 did but that knee injury doesn’t help his stock. He might just play for LSU next year 10% chance.

His Momma said it is a HIPPA violation to talk about his injury, That includes here too.

He was playing like he didn’t want to get injured the last 2 years. No way he comes back. His head is really messed up now, fearing an injury.

He is an extremely gifted athlete, and once in NFL, he will show his “Freshman” version of himself again.

No way he leaves for draft. He was average last year and not great this year. He has no clear position. He will be a low draft pick at best if he leaves. He would make more in NIL next season than he would if he made an NFL team.
