After practice on Thursday, LSU coach Brian Kelly was asked about the pros and cons of playing Garrett Nussmeier this week against Southeastern LA and what goes into his thought process of playing him Saturday.

Nussmeier, who has been limited with a torso injury since fall camp, is feeling good and ready to play vs. the Lions, according to Kelly.
quote:

"Because he's feeling good," Kelly explained. "We had to limit a lot of things that we did in the first four weeks. He's finally coming to practice feeling good and getting into a good rhythm. This was his best week of practice. So we want him to go and play the game at a level where he's comfortable. To hold him back at this point would not be the right thing for him."

"He's excited to play because he feels so much better. I don't want to say that he's back to the old Garrett Nussmeier. But there were a lot of things that he couldn't do, that he had to adjust to. It's good that he's back and throwing the football comfortably."
Kelly added that the plan is to play Nussmeier, "see where it goes, and make adjustments during the game."

I swear, some of LSU fans are so full of shite, let the down votes began. Ever since BK was hire the garbage started. Why you hire him he don't know how to recruit LSU or SEC prospects (top recruit claases), he can't coach, he's not a winner( most winning active HC), the NIL and portal era past him by ($20mill spent and the#1 portal class). Yes, he made hiring mistakes, but fixed them extremely well, now looks like he has a championship staff. Y'all hated on Les Miles a championship HC and the only one who took us to two Natty's, y'all hated on Coach O who created probably the greatest team in college football history. The only HC you still have love for used us as a stepping stone to go fail in the NFL and return to college and turn Alabama into a juggernaut. I don't give a shite if he's protecting his QB, our QB and his and our offense. We are 3 and f'ing 0, did any of you assholes thought we would be? And don't lie, never f'ing satisfied, how about being fricking happy and appreciate the accomplishments.

We just need the version of him that played at Clemson. Then we're good to geaux.

Which was the same that you’ve seen. The team was more focused and disciplined but the play calling was a ton of lateral passing and check downs. We need last years Nuss.

And they added a number of creative running plays that caught Clemson off guard. Now they’re on tape, so they wont have the same effect.

The stories about him and injury do not add up, however, his performance in the filed looks like what he has been in the past 3 years.

To everybody accusing BK of lying or trying to sell BS, I have a question. Since when did THEIR JOBS become our f...ng business? You do realize BK and the entire team can quit tomorrow WITHOUT your permission. How many of Nussmeiers medical evaluations have posted here? How many transcripts from coaches meetings have been posted? Shut up, enjoy the games, Monday and work will be back before you k ow it.

So many people question every decision BK makes, call him an idiot, nitpick his interviews. People forget he won more games at ND than Lou Holtz did AND it is possibly the hardest D1 school to recruit for, just me, but I think he knows what he's doing

I just don’t believe that tbh. He’s been limited for 3 weeks and now he’s just okay but still needs a bye or doesn’t need a bye anymore? Idk but it sure seems we are being sold a load of shite.

So: “He’s soooo much better; but he’s not totally better”?
So I will play him; if he still looks bad it’s the injury; if he looks good he’s healing.
Then; If we put up 10 pts. Vs. OM the injury is back.

Basically: “you won’t know; but whatever happens it’s not Nuss’s fault or mine. It’s some injury we don’t tell you about before. But when we struggled I told you about it; kinda.”

From the mysterious injury at the end of the offseason to this I just don’t buy what BK is selling and feel like he’s trying to take heat off the offensive struggles
