LSU officially announced Monday that Joe Burrow will start at quarterback in the season opener vs. Miami (FL). Burrow, a graduate transfer from Ohio State beat out sophomore Myles Brennan for the job.

LSU and Miami are set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Dwayne Haskins must be a future pro to keep this guy on the bench.

IMO, both are future pros. And Haskins didn't beat Joe out. OSU coaches wouldn't decide in the time frame that the Burrow's thought was understood, so Joe thanked OSU, then walked away. I really wish he had stayed, but most Buckeyes wish nothing but the best for Joe and LSU - a lot of new interest in LSU football in the Buckeye nation - and nothing but respect.

At this point I think they can quit referring to him as an Ohio state transfer. I think we've all got that now. Excited to see what Joe can do.

I mean...how messed up would it be if he *wasn’t* the starter?

Maybe Brennan has improved tremendously from year one to year 2? Like most do. If he really was pushing Birrow that is a good sign in my opinion. Time will tell. With that being said I’m glad Burrow is the guy and hope he can be good enough to make the difference LSU has been needing at QB.

Honestly, get Brennan and a redshirt and more time to put on weight and get dialed into the offense (assuming we do not end up with yet another OC change). And we might finally have some QB stability on our hands. But probably not.

weight has nothing to do with Brennan not winning the job. And Brennan's had a lot more time with Ensminger to get dialed-in to the offense. So many excuses for Brennan. I'm afraid he's just not what we thought he'd be.

This is Football... These kids hit the weights hard and have a top of the line meal plan for a reason. Proper weight has far more importance than you are alluding to. Brennan is listed at 6'5 183.
