In case you missed it, there was a lot of discussion on Tuesday about a concerning tweet that LSU quarterback Brandon Harris sent to recent wide receiver transfer Tyron Johnson who is now at Oklahoma State.

Harris, who was benched last Saturday against Jacksonville State, sent a public tweet to Johnson that simply said: "u smart." The tweet was quickly deleted by Harris and he changed his public profile to private.

Also concerning is the college coaches that Harris recently followed on Twitter like Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Houston’s Tom Herman, TCU head coach Gary Patterson and offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie.

LSU head coach Les Miles decided not the name a starting quarterback when he met with the media on Monday but insisted both Harris and Danny Etling would be needed going forward.

Damn, Brandon Harris makes mistakes even when he's not playing quarterback.

That's kinda funny but sad. Only if it's what most of us think he's implying.

Who cares. You guys put way too much emphasis and attention on these kids. What's the common denominator of the digression of every single QB at LSU in the last 10 years?

He needs to be following McNeese and ULL instead.

It is amazing how you Miles haters always ignore Matt Flynn and Mettenberger when you say all QBs under Miles have been poor. No one can develop Harris. He is simply bad.

Flynn digressed. If Perrilloux wouldn't have stepped in late that year we wouldn't have won a NC. Flynn's performance was declining. Mett wasn't that great and never met expectations. Look what he had around him!

Flynn was also a Saban recruit and Mett went to the only school that would take him at the time after getting kicked out of Georgia.

Flynn and Mett were both well into the college QB development p when Miles entered their lives.

This should help with recruits.

I like how tigerdroppings admins deleted everyone's post to just post this on the news feed. Ridiculous. Haha

Flynn was under Miles for 3 years and won a National Title. He still plays in the NFL. Mett is in the NFL now and also was under Miles for 3 seasons. Sorry if reality doesn't fit your agenda but truth is truth.

Matt Flynn = Saban/Fisher recruit; Mett - Transfer QB. Full LSU college NFL QBs developed by Miles/Cameron = 0 LSU in SEC under Miles last 2 years 9-7 You = P&G glasses.

Everyone would be better off if this kid transfers. That would elementate the possible QB controversy and force CLM to start the better player. Win, win.

He said "u smart" knowing his own abilities and not being able to pass him the ball.

Wow, just need to work harder and play better Harris. Look at it as a challenge and go after it.

Also he was also following Trump on twitter ..that explains his erratic throws and his unpredictability in the pocket. Now thats some shock therapy for me.

Brandon's making some mistakes and has some growing up to do, he should and will be disciplined. But let's not act like this coaching staff is good at coaching QBs (JJ,JL,AJ, BH). After 11 years, I'd tend to think the HEAD COACH has more to do with overall below avg qb play than one 20 year old kid.

You can't blame Miles for this. If ANYTHING Miles stayed with Harris too long. He gave him every opportunity to save his starting position. It isno ones fault but Harris'.
user avatar
TaderSalad92 months
@Rob - Of course you can. Had CLM actually had a real QB competition and change of offensive scheme in the off season like he promised us, BH would have seen a long time ago that he was clearly no.2 or no. 3. Right now BH is playing victim and thats a real bitch to recover from. CLM is every bit as responsible as BH.

Early on Harris reminded me of Herb Tyler or even Jamarcus Russell. Arm strength and his technique. But that has gone away since becoming the starter. He can't throw a sideline pass to save his life. Almost over throws every one.

LOL this is some quality reporting. If you look at the time stamp on his twitter you can clearly see that "u smart" was a response to TJ saying he was going to let the Lord guide him. And all these dumb asses are going to shite on the kid even more for something the shitty TDreporting staff cannot comprehend how twitter and time stamps work.

This reporting looks like a mirror image of how we get our "news" from CNN/networks regarding Hilliary's issues...

Didn't Brandon play in a spread offense in high school? Why can't Les and Cam develop an offense around his skill set? It seems that young quarterbacks who played the spread in high school are doing fairly well in college offenses who play the same thing.
user avatar
airfernando92 months
Les is clueless. Cam could develop it, but Les won't allow him. Honestly, though, Harris probably simply is capable at this point of being anything more than he has been. The most important quality for a qb is pocket presence, and Harris has zero. Running spread in high school probably hurt him in that regard.
