In case you missed it, there was a lot of discussion on Tuesday about a concerning tweet that LSU quarterback Brandon Harris sent to recent wide receiver transfer Tyron Johnson who is now at Oklahoma State.

Harris, who was benched last Saturday against Jacksonville State, sent a public tweet to Johnson that simply said: "u smart." The tweet was quickly deleted by Harris and he changed his public profile to private.

Also concerning is the college coaches that Harris recently followed on Twitter like Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Houston’s Tom Herman, TCU head coach Gary Patterson and offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie.

LSU head coach Les Miles decided not the name a starting quarterback when he met with the media on Monday but insisted both Harris and Danny Etling would be needed going forward.

He said "u smart" knowing his own abilities and not being able to pass him the ball.

Lol. Does he really think tOSU, HOU, or TCU want him?

Evidence of a continued lack of maturity. Harris has been provided with numerous opportunities to prove that he is "the man" at QB and has performed inconsistently (being nice). He can pour all he wants, but the reason he was benched was of his own making.

Even if it was not the sign of a leader, I would have given the benefit of him being young and emotional with his running to the locker room after the game but this is enough to conclusively and apologetically believe that he should ride the pine. There should be no QB competition to reward someone who displays this deficit of leadership at the QB position.

This reporting looks like a mirror image of how we get our "news" from CNN/networks regarding Hilliary's issues...

LOL this is some quality reporting. If you look at the time stamp on his twitter you can clearly see that "u smart" was a response to TJ saying he was going to let the Lord guide him. And all these dumb asses are going to shite on the kid even more for something the shitty TDreporting staff cannot comprehend how twitter and time stamps work.

Your typical dumb somewant racist louisianan. These people dont give a crap about these kids they just won't someone to win so they can forget about their failures in life.

Who cares. You guys put way too much emphasis and attention on these kids. What's the common denominator of the digression of every single QB at LSU in the last 10 years?

Didn't Brandon play in a spread offense in high school? Why can't Les and Cam develop an offense around his skill set? It seems that young quarterbacks who played the spread in high school are doing fairly well in college offenses who play the same thing.

Les is clueless. Cam could develop it, but Les won't allow him. Honestly, though, Harris probably simply is capable at this point of being anything more than he has been. The most important quality for a qb is pocket presence, and Harris has zero. Running spread in high school probably hurt him in that regard.

This should help with recruits.

He might want to follow some other coaches because he wouldn't be a starter at any of those schools

Brandon's making some mistakes and has some growing up to do, he should and will be disciplined. But let's not act like this coaching staff is good at coaching QBs (JJ,JL,AJ, BH). After 11 years, I'd tend to think the HEAD COACH has more to do with overall below avg qb play than one 20 year old kid.

You can't blame Miles for this. If ANYTHING Miles stayed with Harris too long. He gave him every opportunity to save his starting position. It isno ones fault but Harris'.
user avatar
TaderSalad91 months
@Rob - Of course you can. Had CLM actually had a real QB competition and change of offensive scheme in the off season like he promised us, BH would have seen a long time ago that he was clearly no.2 or no. 3. Right now BH is playing victim and thats a real bitch to recover from. CLM is every bit as responsible as BH.
