Four-star LSU quarterback commit Peter Parrish from Central-Phenix City HS capped off a perfect season Wednesday night by defeating Thompson High School 52-7 in the Alabama Class 7A football state championship at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Parrish went head-to-head against Alabama quarterback commit Taulia Tagovailoa and passed for 78 yards with one touchdown and rushed for 100 yards for one touchdown. His performance earned him the MVP award.

After the game, AL.com was able to speak with the future Tiger:
quote:

"From the jump, I knew we were going to win," Parrish said.

Parrish said he plans to sign in December, but added he's not yet sure if he'll enroll in January or remain in high school for the spring semester.

What does he think about his future college home?

"I'm focusing on LSU right now," he said. "they have fire in their heart. That really stood out to me.

"I feel like I'll fit in really good (at LSU," he continued. "My high school actually kind of runs the same kind of plays they run, so I feel like I'll be kind of set."

Parrish is rated the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the country and the No. 10 overall player from the state of Alabama for the class of 2019, according to ESPN.

He has been committed to LSU since the day he was first offered a scholarship during the Tigers Elite Camp back in June.

He seems like a really nice, high character kid. I’m excited to see him in purple and gold.

The most interesting part to me was that Tagovailoa's team put up only 7 points in a HS game.

I am happy for the kid, happy he is going to be a Tiger, seems like a good young man/athlete etc... but riddle me this batman, how does ones team score 52 points with the QB winning the MVP on only passing for 78 yds and 100yds rushing?

Taulia was injured the game before this one. He was not even 30% but he tried his best. I'm sure the winning team would have loved to get Tualia at 100% but it wasn't happening.

"Tagovailoa entered the game averaging 307 yards per game this season, (3684 yds/35 TD) but finished with a career-low 44. Central had four sacks, all on Tagovailoa." Shoulder injury. No Jalen Hurts BU.
