Class of 2026 LSU wide receiver commit Kenny Darby will be in Baton Rouge this weekend to visit with coaches and staff.

Darby, a 6-0, 175-pounder from Bossier City, La., is rated as a four-star recruit out of Airline High School.

He committed to LSU last November over offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Miami, & others.

Darby also plans to visit Alabama on Jan. 25 and Tennessee in March.

For more info on Darby, visit his profile page on our 2026 Recruiting Tracker.

I’d say we are using the TP very well and this year we are leading the nation in getting quality players. A verbal commitment in recruitment is and always has been just that. It’s a hold on a slot until signing day which is where a player really commits to their team of choice. Their motivations maybe weighted differently, but the action nonetheless is still the same thing. We have always gained and lost players leading up to commitment day. LSU is a big dog and LSU can compete with the best out there. Regarding the recruiting process, it will continue to compete at the highest levels. Yes, players with purple and gold hearts will also be there. Geaux Tigers!

TP seems to be more important than HS recruiting simply because HS recruits will use a commitment to LSU as a springboard to offer their services for cash to other schools

Why even commit? What a waste.

If I was truly committed to a school, I'd still take visits... Colorado, Hawaii, USC, Boston College... I'd see the sites.

Then you are not committed by definition. You are exploring other options etc. I fully agree they should be able to do that and experience it all. Just dont "commit" because you are not committed just wait and take all your visits then commit when done.

Scratch USC from "the sites". Dirty Ugly City and the campus is in the middle of a very bad gang infested area. You can view the skyscrapers from campus, but don't dare trying to see it by foot. The beach to Santa Monica is at least an hour away due to traffic. Homeless and their encampments everywhere. If it's glitz and glamour are the only sites that one is attracted to, Beverly Hills, much of Hollywood, the Zoo, a Dodgers game, a game at Staples Center; they are all still there for you (for now). Check back in late February to see which haven't burned up. The attention to the rebuild of multiple parts from the fires will take years. If you never have to leave the campus, don't mind breathing the most polluted air in the country, then USC might be for you. If you want a better look at the sites, UCLA would be the school to visit.

Seems like in this day & time I don’t G. A. S. who commits any more. HS athletes use commitment as a way to go to other universities & ask for a better cash deal. So the days of commitments is over.

I played with the Darby brothers at Bossier many moons ago. I wonder if its the same family. Julius was a great athlete who later got into politics.

Exactly.

Which should also mean that LSU is not committed any more than he is. LSU can offer that schollie to a better player that will honor his commit and not visit anywhere else after committing, then so be it. It has to be a two way street, so don't commit and then go looking for a better deal.

I really like the way old Clemson ran their recruiting...... go take your visits, go get your money, but once you commit, COMMIT and shut it down.

Makes you really appreciate the kids like Will Campbell and Harlem Berry who shut down their recruitment and didn't make any visits after committing to LSU.

Some kids commit to end their recruitment and some kids commit to jump start their recruitment.

Yeah, then they become All Americans and the “fans” on this website say they suck and make up stupid names for them like Gumby.
