Four-Star Baton Rouge DB Major Burns Decommits From LSU

Four-star LSU defensive back commit Major Burns from Baton Rouge has decommitted from the Tigers.

Burns was a one-time Texas A&M commit but backed off his verbal pledge to the Aggies before committing to LSU in June. The Madison Prep Academy prospect is rated the No. 11 safety in the country for the class of 2020, according to 247 Sports.

The departure of Burns leaves LSU with 23 verbal commits for the class of 2020.

I suspect he came to this decision on his own. It doesn't seem wise to "process" local athletes and burn bridges with their coaches who will be supplying your team with talent for years to come.

People have really used that crutch, lately. Making to a CFP doesn’t put us or anyone above a 4 star athlete. Not sure how much depth we have at S as it is, and Greene looks like he may be on the way out, too.

So reading his statement it seems like he was processed. Most that decommit will usually say they aren’t closing the door on the school or something along those lines. He completely shut the door on it.

Speculation mostly driving the processed tag. Undefeated and division champs. Team is looking positive and everyone wants to be here, yet we have 4 stars decommitting? Doesnt add up, therefore getting the "processed" tag.

Why do we even go through this process? We work who wants to be here. These kids who have not played at the next level believe they have some power to ask for more perks. That is simply what it comes down to!

I’m pretty sure they aren’t cutting these kids loose without having something firm already. Remember that nowadays a verbal commitment doesn’t mean shite until they’re actually signed.
